Have been worried that may effect engine life, and have been told it can reduce engine life by 20%. So did not want to risk it, I suppose this can only be ascertained after several years.

I doubt it would really make much difference unless your kicking the beans out of it on a daily basis!

Performance map is approx 40bhp and 80Nm
Eco is slightly less....however driving style needs to also adapt to make most of mpg saving.
TBH you will see slight mpg increase with performance map (as long as you dont floor it evety where...lol)
Our maps are also insured for piece of mind...

What sort of money would we be talking about to achieve these figures?
I was looking into a Brabus box for mine and was quoted £1600 IIRC.
I then spoke with the supplier in Milton Keynes who advised that as my milage was 68K it was not worth it. He believes that it should be done from an early age when the miles are being put on...
Based on terrible previous experience of using different maps at 80K+ miles I decided that my c320 was no exception...
