Hi, I've had a quick search on this forum but couldn't find much.

I've been looking for a suitable cleaner for my leather interior, it's matte so I'm worried that any cleaner will give it a slight polish. Can anyone suggest anything??

Also, I found this on the meguiar's forum which worried me even more-

'I have used the Magic Eraser with success, but honestly I find APC to do just as good of a job and not as messy. The only time you will run into trouble when cleaning your leather is when you are doing very old and worn leather where the dye will start to come off. This, oddly enough, is only a problem on high end hides as the fibers are closer together, making it harder for the dyes to absorb in the production process. As a result, you will see BMWs, Mercedes, and such to have the dye start to fade away, especially if ANY type of cleaner is used, regardless of how gentle. If this is the case, than just stop what you are doing, and inform the customer.'

My leather is not old or worn but im still worried further by this. Hope someone can help.

Many thanks in advance, Sam.

Gliptone is what I use on my nappa leather seats/door cards. There is no shine or sticky residue.

What type of leather do you have? Modern standard leathers are PU coated and impervious to conditioners, so bit of a waste really. Unless you just want the aroma of leather. The cleaner will be fine to use but again perhaps a bit of a waste. A damp cloth would do. Or baby wipes!

A guy at ferrari gave me a top tip ikea leather cleaner and restorer matt finish and brilliant £12. Although i have used gliptone which is excellent give them a call the owner is a little eccentric but boy does he know his stuff :thumb:

Thanks whitenemesis.

Not sure exactly what leather it is. The car is a 2005 c class coupe. Quite a modern leather I believe, matte black with an extremely fine grain.

I've just bought 'concentrated leather cleaner' and 'neutral leather conditioner and protector' from Leathercare in Warrington. They are leather specialists and Connolly Leather trained/experienced.

Leathercare Renovations

I've heard loads of good reports about them so called round and they explained exactly how best to use the products too. They added that my seats look like they have been treated with products containing silicon (hence the sheen) so might need cleaning twice before conditioning.

been using saddle soap on mine, very cost effective, anyone else use this??

I use a lanolin based saddle cleaner / feed called Flexolan or something like that ? Use it on my bike leathers once a year and also works well on car seats to keep them supple :thumb: Horsey friend of ours got it for me.
