Hi
Had my c32 put on a dyno recently and wanted to know whats the most a c32 can produce?
Cheers:thumb:

354 stock

Go on then, tell us what you got!!

Mine was 296 BHP at the wheels (standard).

How deep are your pockets?

350 BHP at the wheels would cost high hundreds if parts are purchased from the US, with 400 BHP at the wheels still relatively affordable.

Best place to see what's possible are US forums, try MBWorld.org Mercedes Benz Enthusiast Community

How?

I bought it and the guy told me its producin 400. I didnt believe him. When my cousin challenged me to a race in his r32 gtr I had it put on a dyno. The dyno Was showing 450 BHP. Im not sure what the guy before me had done to it. But im pretty sure its got standard pulleys, but i could be wrong.

Whoa!! That must be a monster!!

Is that calculated back to the flywheel or measured at the wheels?

Best to use the wheel figure really as the only real way to measure engine power is to whip it out and pop it on a bench - calculating it from wheel power is about assumptions, smoke and mirrors!!

To get that sort of power, it's very, very likely to have had a pulley swap, as it's the first sensible step to increase power on a supercharged engine.

Thats to the wheels. It has standard pulleys and has only had a remap done. It has been de-restricted. Its also had something called a DMS conversion done, do not know what that is. Even the guy who did the dyno was shocked.

DMS are a pretty well known tuning company. It's not just a remap of the ECU it seems!!!:bannana: Why not go down to Southampton and ask them to tell you.

Cheers mate, might go down an find out. Because 450bhp is a lot.
Its running 13.1 at santa pod, on street tyres. Trying to get it down to low 12's. Any tips?

450bhp, at the wheels??

Are you sure - that'd be surely 500+bhp at the flywheel. You wouldn't get that from a remap alone

I'd be surprised if most of the supercharged '55 AMGs or even the '63s put that sort of power to the wheels?

Im 100% sure its got standard pulleys, just had a word with a specialist. The guy who did the dyno was surprised aswell. Im pretty sure its to the wheels. I bought it and the guy was saying it was producing 400bhp. I don't know what he had done to it. All he said was that it was derestricted.

Well I'm no expert on C32s, but for it to be putting out over 50% more power than Bobby Dazzler's car it must have had some serious modifications - certainly not just a remap ;)

It's either very heavily modded or a very (very!) optimisic dyno

The dynos right, it says 453bhp. But im not sure about what modifications its had before I bought it. All I have done is a remap and the pulleys are still standard.
If it is to the flywheel, how much would be going to the wheels?

I was thinking that.........

The other thing to check is which dyno manufacturer is it? I think Dyno Dynamics has a good reputation for being accurate. Some dyno makes are optimistic; also it's not just a spike in the curve is it?

Powerful autos are a nightmare to get good power from on a chassis dyno so it may be a spike.

I enquired about the DMS remap when I first had the car and it gave about 20-25 BHP more for about £1000, although it seems their pricing is negotiable based upon what I've since read.

A member here who owns a C32 and knows a thing or two about fixing Mercedes and setting up track cars, has a DMS remap on his, and he said it's definitely peppier.

To get 450 BHP at the wheels would take a some fairly serious modifications. I'm not saying it doesn't have them, but if it would be unlikely to be running standard pulleys as they're a fundamental part of tuning a supercharged engine. Also it's unlikely to be running a DMS map.

But what does it matter, you can drive around most cars you find on the road in a stock C32, anything more is a bonus!! In fact I did just that yesterday. ;) :D

Its definitley got the dms remap, as you said though the dyno could be 'optimistic'.

Sorry mate, I wasn't doubting that it hadn't got a DMS map. What I meant was that if it had received some really serious modifications (450 rwhp) then it would probably be running a completely custom map from a C32 specialist rather than a DMS map which I believe are based on a generic underlying map.

DMS do have a very good reputation though, but they're really in the market for those drivers who only remap and maybe relatively basic breathing mods.

Once my scanners working I'll scan a copy of my dyno curve, and you could tell me whats wrong, if its got a spike.
