Saw one drive past my office today for the first time.:)
Must say it didnt have the WOW factor and looked like an inflated and stretched Lexus.
Most disappointed.:(

There is a bright orange Mayback Taxi in Moscow! I will post a picture of it when I work out how to upload photo's.

A little while back i was driving along and eneded up behind three of them in a row! I was thinking wow you dont see this everyday and to top that the one in front was brabus maybach, you defnitely dont see too many of those! They all had passengers and all went into Paragon (McLaren Technology Centre), must have been VIP's...

Hey!!!

No fair on the Lexus!

They are very quiet, albeit boring, barges (consoles his LS)

:D

On Top Gear a year or two ago, JC was having a go at Simon Cowell about why he had a Maybach. Simon Cowell's explanation was that whilst JC was a top television presenter and best in his field, this was not down to his good looks.

Point being that even though it not looking the best, it was unsurpassed inside and as an overall package.

Interesting that he now seems to travel by RR (see X factor).

Mclaren have their own one, and given there customer base a few of them have their own as well. Guarantee it would have been Russian's or Arabs.

The 'S' models look a lot better than the 'standard' ones by a long shot if you ask me, just don't let Khan get their mits on one ...ooops too late

Kahn seem to have made it look more like the S Class, which can only be a good thing!:D[/quote]

Seriously, you need to see it in the flesh. They've managed to strip the class from it completely, arguably the main thing going for these cars!

For once, that's a Kahn that looks nice. Short wheelbase Maybach's look OK but the long looks awkward, which is odd because the short is a bit pointless, you don't buy them to drive yourself.

If you're gonna be driven it's got to be a Maybach or a Seraph. If you're driving yourself then I reckon a fully loaded CL or SL is the way to go, or if you must have four doors then an S or a Maserati Quattroporte...

I'd have a 57 anyway, looks more like a "car" than a stretched limo so much classier (actually side on it reminds me of a 211 just bigger), and unless you're very tall (pun intended for OP) you'll easy fit in the back of it.

Maybach is just a status symbol but great on the inside and only made for you to be driven in and drive yourself.certainly rare and gets you noticed.

  :) Hi Flash,
You have baffled me. (very easily done)

Do we think the Maybach is subtle or is it a full in your face vehicle like a Rolls Royce?

Regards
John the person who is always driven.

Neither really.
It hasnt got the road presence of a RR. So some might say subtle. But only if you think a Lexus is subtle.
And its not what I would term full in your face either.

Its quite nondescript and dare I say ordinary. It would have been better if Mercedes has produced the Maybach and given it a proper OTT spec and then slapped the MB badge on it. I know the history of the Maybach brand, but nowadays the name Mercedes means far more to more people than the name Maybach will ever do.
It was a mistake to brand it a Maybach.
It didnt impress me and I am sure 99% of those that saw it drive by along High Holborn didnt give it a second glance or thought it anything special.
I would hazard a guess and say more would turn their heads to watch a nice S Class waft by. All in black with private glass in the rear.

I wonder if in this modern age that is a good thing?

Have times changed and do we look at a Rolls Royce and say? 'One day, one day I would love to own one'

Is the Maybach a luxury vehicle that is understated, and very inconspicuous, or is it a failure?

Folks are quite fickle with their cars and Lexus was created where Toyota thought that in some countries it was better to remove their brand name from this luxury vehicle. I find that sad and thankfully some countries sell the car as a Toyota.

Is a Maybach a Mercedes-Benz or have they reintroduced a name from a different era?

Regards
John
