My car was in for warranty repair work last week (corrosion) with an MB-approved repairer (MB dealer). Work was to: O/S Top of A-pillar, O/S Front wheel arch, O/S Rear wheel arch (incl. black skirt), O/S Door (bottom), N/S Front wheel arch, N/S Rear wheel arch (incl. black skirt) , N/S side indicator lamp.

I got the car back from the repairer on Wednesday afternoon, and it was only yesterday afternoon that I finally had the chance to have a good look over it.

I'll post the pics without further comment, save to say where on the car they were taken. Please bear in mind when viewing these photos what MB say about their approved repairers: "We guarantee that only quality parts are used in our approved body shops and that repairs are carried out to the highest standards. What’s more, when you use a Mercedes-Benz approved bodyshop you have the added comfort of knowing that all work will be carried out to Mercedes-Benz standards of quality."

thats totally unacceptable !!

take it back !

Shocking. Hope they do the honourable thing and don't quibble - just sort it for you.

My Sprinter now to has issues which I am in the process of having inspected by the MD of the body shop sometime soon. I will update everyone in due course.

Good luck in getting it sorted Flyer.

First take it back to your MB Dealer and show them what a mess they have made of your car, let them sort it out as they recommended them.

Flyer: As you're in Cheshire and I am too, I'd like to know where you took it please, so that I can avoid them.

Not just me then?

I've since found overspray on the chrome trim inside the driver's door. I've also just had to visit a client and had to spend the journey with my arm out the window as the A-pillar trim came loose. Have to remove it completely later (it's secured with a bolt at the bottom).

I've emailed the bodyshop manager and general manager of the dealership with a link to this thread.

I'm disappointed and angry that the car has been returned to me in this state. If it was a back-street garage, it would be unacceptable, but for an MB-approved repairer.... well, it's shocking. It may be 7 years old, but I've had it from new and I've looked after it; it has a full MBSH, all from the same dealer that has repaired it :shakeshead:

Rory, I'll reply by PM as I would like to give the repairers a chance to put things right. Only fair

That is unbelievably shoddy - to put it mildly. How could they even consider letting that go back to the customer. Good luck in getting it resolved.

Unreal !!

Did they think that it was owned by Stevie Wonder ? I can't believe they thought that they would get away with giving it back like that .....

Some people will try anything ...

Hope you get it sorted Andrew !

truly awful workmanship. I am shocked. Take it back to the dealer and show them the work, and get them to deal with it.

I cannot believe any bodyshop could release a repaired car in this appalling condition. This makes a complete mockery of their claim that "We guarantee that only quality parts are used in our approved body shops and that repairs are carried out to the highest standards. What’s more, when you use a Mercedes-Benz approved bodyshop you have the added comfort of knowing that all work will be carried out to Mercedes-Benz standards of quality."
i am sure you will get it sorted to your satisfaction as there is absolutely no possible excuse for this shoddy workmanship.

I hope you get it sorted, mine came back in a similar state and on Wednesday I am back in to the body shop for a third time trying to get it fixed. They have also said no courtesy car unless I pay the insurance, strange how their mistakes keep costing me money!

I advise anyone who is about to take their car in for repairs to take many photos of it the day before so when they say "it was like that when we got it" you can smile and hand them the photos.

You almost expect the sub-contract bodyshop to try to get away with it, but the lack of quality control by the MB dealer is just outrageous.

This is good advise Peter which hopefully I will not ever need but will certainly follow if I do.

I would be ashamed to release a car in that condition. Looks like its a Friday afternoon job. I truly hope that you get it sorted and claim some compensation for your troubles. Further words fail me..........

Eh? My brand new merc was in the bodyshop on the first day I collected it to have the bonnet realigned as the factory did not do it properly in the first place.

Also rust repairs are almost certainly fixed at a pre-agreed (low) price between repairer and DCUK: repairer has no incenetive to do a decent job as they will make money on the volume of work.

looks like they let the trainee do your car.

hope they sort it quickly and to the approved standard !
