Hi all,
Have decided to change coolant at the weekend, have read plenty on reasons why to use MB coolant instead of Halfords so will go with that.

Anyone have any idea how much coolant I will need (usual 50/50 mix) and what it costs from a dealer?

Cheers

I bought some from the MB dealers a few days ago.

It was £9 something for 1.5 Litres and they quoted it needed a 50/50 mix with water.

Cheers Calgonis, how much did you need?

If you have a look in your handbook it tells you exactly how much you will need shanksy.

for the sake of another couple of quid use distilled water rather than tap water - no impurities to fur up the rad.

what? why would you want to bother with dilution rates etc? - just buy some good qualiy pre-mix - there are tons to choose from?

Surely the 'MB' stuff will be premixed now?

Rainwater much cheaper than distilled - usually its demineralised when you read the small print.

MB coolant is collected from the sweat of virgin frauleins during their first "encounter" with the opposite sex.
Or you could buy some premixed stuff I got mine from Costco.

£9.80 for 1.5 litres nitrite free (think most coolant/antifreeze is) 1ltr of Coolant to 1ltr of water gives protection (when it gets cold again!) to -37 full specs on info sheet 325.0 on wis if anyone needs more info.

Finally got home today so checked logbook and it takes 8.5ltr's, had to buy 3 of the MB bottles, still if its as good as goldestate says it is.....

Comma do antifreeze and it's always highly rated:

What colour is the MB stuff you got? If it's blue, it's more than likely to be exactly the same stuff as the G48.

if you boil tap water and let it cool, you will then save a couple of quid

Better still, catch some rainwater (same as distilled) and save the cost of the electricity.........:bannana:

edit...oops, just seen someone already suggested that...........

But watch out for acid rain. :)

Cheers again for all the advice, did it the weekend only needed about 5.5 litres once mixed so can take the 3rd one back, not sure why as the logbook def says 8.5 litre capacity. Next stop rust repairs......

on mine, the radiator needs draining, and so does the engine via a seperate tap on the side of the engine - does yours not have this ?

@kth286 - Dont think so, mine is the M111 engine ?
