MB Coventry

If you still fancy the 205 Stu just go back and ask to speak directly with the manager there. Explain to him that you were less than impressed by the way you were treated the first time around. Then you'll be taken seriously. Don't let one crazy guy put you off getting the car you want.

Don't want you to go M3/4. You're too nicer a guy to be hated. :D

been reading up about the M3/M4. they have the following as standard equipment:

lithium ion battery
carbon fibre prop shaft and engine brace -- plus lots of chassis strengthening front and back to make sure car responds true, lots of aluminium components
19" forged alloy wheels

Go for that Stu. :bannana:

I am serious and I will be changing my car. Once the deal is right.

I'd say that it's all part of the negotiation, if he'd have been slobbering all over you to buy the car, you'd have thought you had the whip hand....

If he really was just a smug *****, I'd have asked to see his boss then explained that I'm here to buy and if his slack attitude is indicative of the dealers approach then I'll be taking my business elsewhere and I'll be firing off an email to both the dealer principle and MBUK.

If it's really the car you want then I wouldn't let one sloppy salesman put you off, just go somewhere else.

Yeah they drive really well. Handling is best I've experienced yet and I've had e46, e92 m3 before. The F80 is streets ahead. Feels very stiff and steering is exceptional. I'm really impressed by it and have to say the guy who showed me round it today was so knowledgable it was refreshing. He really pushed the car hard to show me what it could do as I wasn't prepared to do that but I drove it pretty hard. Even after the hard drive the mpg averaged 23.8 on that journey! Which is exceptional and fine by me. 35+ on motorway.

you want one from Jul 15 production onwards as they have the improved/revised rear dampers.

these cars have chrome trim around the air vents, and white instead of orange display for the HVAC

Lol the guy was a total muppet. A classic example of how to lose friends and alienate people.

As you can likely tell im not the most patient person and he has really wound me up this weekend. I mean driving 60 miles round trip to look at a car on a Saturday is obviously the sign of a time waster when I've got a dealer 3 miles from my house lol!

To be fair my choices are limited as my budget doesn't allow me to buy £60-70k bracket on the c63 and the choice sub £55k is limited. I might start looking at non main dealer cars. He was adamant they wouldn't be increasing their offer on mine so that's a non starter I'm not selling it for pennies!

Yes your right I believe. The one today was a 14 plate and to be fair it's budget led. The deal they offered me today though was rubbish and I could do a factory order for similar monthlies so they are going away to sharpen their pencils!

The salesman I went to see at my local on Friday wasn't too bad, except for not knowing more about a C63 than I did

He found one with the PP package or whatever it is and said 'look it has red calipers, don't worry you get a years warranty on those' I said no I don't want one with that package, and my luck they'd need new ones after a year and you know how much they cost don't you? He didn't even know. Also pointed out it had distronic, which they all have, and that it came with 2 years free servicing- most of the approved used do anyway

Also tried his hardest to tell me how good Scotchguard was, think I shut him down at every trick in the book... The search continues!

Hope you find mate I have a really good guy that works at Birmingham MB if you need help his name is Chris Harris would you believe!!!

No nonsense and he knows a fair bit about them as he's younger than the usual dinosaurs that ain't got a clue.

The other chap I highly recommend is Steve Compton at Wolverhampton MB he's very, very knowledgable for AMG. Tell him what you want and he will source it for you ;)

He said he can try find a 205 for me but rarity in my price bracket at minute and I'm not paying £70k for a c class :(

Yes it's annoying, trawling through the MB approved used stock there's a few nice ones, all at dealerships up north. I had cars saved on my Mercedes account online on my phone infront of me, it took him ages to just find one of them. Surely if it's in MB/Sytner stock I'd of thought they had a database which would list the exact ones. The cars he was finding I hadn't even found on the stock list but all unsuitable/wrong options and colours etc.

Looking to PCP a facelift, I thought I could go no older than a 2013 car but he said it was possible on the 10-plate car he found which was tempting but not what I wanted, I can be ever so patient for the right car

What specs you looking for on a 205?

It is possible on a 10 plate but not worth it. Mines a 10 plate I did HP as it worked out near as dammit the same.

Dunno mate if I'm honest cheap as possible they come well specced anyway.

If I'm honest I've switched off and leaning towards the M3 again. I'm not going to rush in as I know what deal I want and the one offered today was pants. I think end of March or end of June is best time for a deal as end of quarters. Targets to hit.

I got an obscene deal on the Audi last June. So much so they resold it after it was used for what I paid brand new!

I think they did work out a HP but it was the exact same. Car was White prefacelift, £25k. No deposit, £680 per month with a balloon of £4400 or something. Wish they printed some numbers out to have a look at

I'm guessing for a facelift at £31> to bring that monthly down by half its better to give them over £10k down at the start

Priced my car at a laughable price which is fine as I have some local interest a few grand more than what they priced it at. Going to private sell I think and change the workvan to private use till June as you say, see what they have then

Stick with a W205 mate although I'm not a fan of the shape I think they look meaner than an M3!

Mate a £25k car at £680 a month is bloody ridiculous! The finance rate must be laughable unless it's over a short term.

I hardly ever just walk in to dealerships unless I'm just having a browse for ideas.

If I'm even half serious about any vehicle I call in advance or email for an appointment to discuss whatever I want to discuss. This always works and you are taken seriously.

The issues with wandering in looking for a deal or a drive is this is the MO of someone out for a Saturday afternoon jolly and in general, a timewaster.

Ring ahead next time, you'll be surprised how much difference it makes.

Totally agree when ever I'm buying a new car do all my research online spec / prices etc then ring dealership make appointment half the battle done then contrate on getting the best deal . As for the op sound like a right " drama queen" if the trade in price did not meet your expectations man up and sell it privately.

With the greatest of respect mate when the PX offer is higher from BMW dealers than MB themselves something is wrong. When it's £2k below cap something is wrong. I did my research hence why I'm not going to be selling my car to them for £8k below what they are retailing them at.

So wind your neck in ;)

You get good and bad everywhere so just simply move on to another dealership preferably in a different group.

With servicing/warranty work I am very particular and like everything to be done perfect and car returned back to me in same condition as it went in. My local dealership are useless and have attitude including the Service Manger hence I simply travel further out of the area to another MB dealership that is part of a completely different group and rather give them my custom – simple really!

I thought I'd update this as I've had a call from the Sales director of the dealership today and she has been remarkably apologetic and admitted the chap who saw me is on training as we speak and he was not an AMG specialist and didn't follow the correct process he should have.

She has invited me in for a free valet and a proper discussion. She said why he valued my car she wasn't sure as it is always a manager who should do this.

So fair play to them!

After all the bother I've had with this I finally got chance to revisit today and after telling me they messed up the PX valuation and etc. Etc. Yadda. Yadda.

Drove all way back over to be told they won't budge on either my car or their car and because mine went to MSL for last service its rendered it worthless basically lol! Avoid this dealer!

What a bunch of tossers
