I came across this series of articles on telegraph.co.uk dated from 2006, giving the song and dance how poor dealer service is a thing of the past yada-yada-yada.

I suggest you start with this one:

Quality time - Telegraph

Then continue with this:

Catch a falling star - Telegraph

And follow the link and the foot of the page for the next article, there are five articles in total.

On a more personal note, what I find interesting is that they mention a customer complaining that his car was returned after dealer service with the oil level at the Min mark... and the same thing happened to me 3 years after this article was published. The customer was luckier than me however - following his complaint his car was collected by the dealer, oil topped up and car returned - in my case I had a lengthy argument with the 'service advisor' who then reluctantly asked the technician to add another half litre of oil... on the way back from the dealer I bought some more oil at a petrol station and topped it up, and it is still far from the Max mark, even when hot... clearly the dealers forgot nothing and learnt nothing.
