MB dealers, or an independant specialist?

Hello all! Im planning to get my car serviced in the next few weeks possibly, and i just wanted a few points of view of other merc owners, to see what the general thought is on getting your car serviced.
MB dealers, or an independant specialist?
I have a w202 c280 97', 86,000 miles, with dealer history upto the year 2000, then 2 stamps from an independant at a 10,000 mile interval.

The only reason I keep my car serviced at the dealer is for the 30 year Mobilo Warranty. For the breakdown cover it provides and the all important RUST WARRANTY!!!

As your car doesn't qualify for this benefit and its been service the last 2 times at a Independant, I'd say stick with a Independant. Be cheaper and probably get better service!!

I've taken mine to an independant garage for the last two services. The most important aspects in my opinion are oil and filters, and there's no tuning to be done. They charge £18 per hour + parts. I get it MOT'd at the same time. I intend to keep the car for ages so fmbsh is not important to me.

Yeah i know what ur saying. If id had full delaer history til now it might be worth keeping it up, but as i havent,,,,well independant is sounding more appealing now, especially when i think of how much i shouls save on service costs!!.....i will let you know anyway Simon,,cheers.....Whats the average dealer cost anyway? any idea??

For C200 Auto (2 Litre C-Class) A Service £150
B Service £350

Not sure about yours with it bein a 2.8 Litre

I would go for a good independant, all use MB parts and the one I use 'Stuttgart Garage' in South Wales is excellent. 'A' Service £120ish, auto gearbox fluid and filter change £80ish. Ask a dealer to quote for the same, thats if they'll do the gearbox.
