2012 Mercedes E220 CDi Sport
Hi all!

First I wanted to say WOW! This forum is like a Bible so much potential & knowledge. I've been coming here quite often as unregistered user, just to "sneak-peak" on few things regarding Mercedes in general and finally, just recently bought one: 2012 E220 CDi Blueefficiency Sport.

-For a totally new to MB cars person (yes you can call me a total fekkin noob :D ), could you possibly direct me (or tell me) to the topic/thread, about: what are the best brake, radiator, engine oil etc., etc. fluids? I know it is all written in the manual but I can't seem to get the concept of it, as I would like to buy all the recommended by manufacturer fluids/oils, mentioned above, for starters.

-What would be your recommendations? Where I can find/buy all the things indicated in the Manual? Do you know any good online shop, having those in reasonable prices?

ALSO on top of that, I have to ask: Does it really matter? Are recommended oils/fluids crucial for these type of cars? Are there any (good quality of course) substitutes out there in the market?

Thanks for your time reading this! I really appreciate your expertise on this subject :rock::rock:

MB don't make any fluids. As long as it meets or exceeds the spec it's fine, don't get caught up in the label queen stuff. Mobil1 spends more advertising their product than the product costs them I think!

Google 'ECP' & 'GSF' for easy to access national chains.

What type of car do you mean?

Yes! This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you very, very much!:thumb:

Hi all. I've also done some research and came across this page. You just insert your car reg number and it finds everything for you!

Tetrosyl Carlube

Let me know what you think!?

Also, would you know how to find out if your car has DPF?

You could buy fluids that are approved by MB or meet the relevant MB Spec Sheet.

But to be honest, the best option is to simply buy original MB-branded fluids... MB even sell MB-Branded oil, and both the oil and fluids are very competitively priced when bought at the parts counter.

Of course it won't be as cheap as 4L of Mobil1 bought a Costco on special offer.... but the point is it won't cost more than when buying from your average reasonably-priced retailer, and you are sure to get the right stuff without having to start threads along the line of 'which is the best brand of oil' or 'what brand brake fluid' etc... :)

I don't believe the carlube oils are tested and approved by MB. They probably fall into the category of "meets the requirements" of which is not the same thing. The manual transmission fluid isn't even the correct viscosity.

If you have owners manual for the car it should make clear whether a DPF is fitted and what spec the oil needs to be.
