Looking through the handbook, we noticed that unlike every other company we have dealt with, MB recognise Cyprus- South and more importantly for us, Cyprus- North.

MB show an official dealer in Lefkosa (northern part of Nicosia), Northern Cyprus. Would the standard Mobilo and warranty services apply?

Is North Cyrpus within EU?

Curious whether you would drive there? If so, which route to stay within covered territories?

Thanks for that; it would appear the north is not covered after all.

Haven't driven an MB over yet and looking at the list, the choice would be to either 'gamble' and drive down through Turkey (as we would normally) or take a ferry from Greece to Cyprus (South) and drive across the border. The latter would not be my preference for many reasons.

With the coverage, we would probably end up going through Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria into Turkey rather than Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria or Hungary, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece.

You'll also have the challenge of whether your insurance company will cover you, eg in Serbia?

Sounds like a nice drive nonetheless, hope you enjoy if/when you go.

When we go through Serbia, Turkey and Cyprus Nth, it cost about £30-£50 for a month's insurance for each of them when we took the Saab. Our normal insurance covers all EU countries.

It is a fun thing to do but there are always low points e.g. Volume of traffic around Istanbul, some of the border crossings are 'interesting' and time consuming and the ferry from Selfke (Turkey) to Northern Cyprus is bad and not in a good way.

Still, it's swings and roundabouts. A ferry from Italy takes three day and one from Greece takes two and I would rather drive than float. Or fly for that matter.
