Hi all,

I am after some advice please?

I went through a company called Global vans and secured a deal by signing an official MB finance quote, being accepted for finance and paying a deposit of £550.00 last September 2021 for a Sprinter Van. I was told there may be a wait and I was looking at Jan/Feb 2022 for the build which I thought was a long time but accepted. After Christmas I had trouble in contacting the company and it wasn't until Mar 2022 until I got a response from them about my Sprinter van.

I was told that not only would I have to wait until at least October 2022 but also I was told the below;

Yesterday Mercedes finally updated the UK market and unfortunately it has not been good news.

1. Mercedes UK (Daimler) will not honour any orders or pricing placed after April 2021.

2. Mercedes UK will build all orders placed after April 2021 (unless spec now unavailable) to current build timescales.

3. All Retail and Broker terms holders will need to re quote existing orders placed after April 2021 using 2022 terms.

Basically, our original quote price is not being honoured and it has recently been re-issued by Global vans with £133 more per month added to the pricing.

I have tried to contact Mercedes direct but as the quote did not progress further into an official finance agreement due to the delay in the build, they won't help and keep redirecting us back to our dealer.

I just want to ask - has anyone else experienced this and if so can anyone shed some light on this - as to is this right or is our dealer lying to us?

Thank you - Daz

I have no experience of this, but just a thought. Who did you pay the deposit to, was it the broker?

If so then my first thought is that you do not have an agreement with Mercedes-Benz or Mercedes-Benz Finance and so they won’t be obliged to honour pricing or anything else - there’s nothing for them to honour based on your description.

If you paid your deposit to the broker and signed an agreement with the broker then you’ll be bound by the brokers terms & conditions. It seems likely that they’ll not be in breach, but you never know the prospect of easy money - or losing less money - could lead to someone taking a chance.

Doesn't really shed more light - but there was a thread a few months ago:

There have also been some posts about vehicle specs being different when there is delivery.

I'm a vehicle leasing broker of nearly 10 years & previously worked for a MB commercial dealer for 15 years prior to that.
Unfortunately this is all true -I have had many Sprinters on order since early 2021 & delays after delays & expect to see them very soon.
They will not honour any vehicle price that was built after the end of May 2022 & I've suffered about three price increase & reduced fleet terms.
They are not doing themselves any favours going forward as people have memories.
Very disappointing but looks like they have had a change of path going forward, the market will of course dictate this & time will tell.
