ML 300CDI
Recently I called at the local dealer's to enquire about changing the ML to the current model ( 320 Sport). It was only on checking the prices quoted did I realise that they did not include COMAND. NO SIR THAT WILL BE AN EXTRA £2300 !!!! on a vehicle costing over £40K. Does Mercedes think everyone is an idiot?
A Lexus RX400 h is starting to look like good value.

No. They think people like the choice of whether to have COMAND or not. There are no free lunches. I prefer to save money and use Garmin which I think is better.

Lots of nearly new ones on the Merc retailer website at heavy discount (looks like they have been pre-reging again) - you would be 2nd owner but could use their tactic - Oh yes, I know it has accessories but they don't really affect the used value do they?

Makes me laugh how auto, Comand plus a second-rate bluetooth option plus a non-curlylead way to charge a phone costs the same as a Korean car... at least when new anyway.

He could just buy a slightly used/nearly new 6-12 month old ML with all the toys that would come in significantly under £40k.

If you go for lexus, think twice before you go for service

A cable for your laptop costs the same as a pen&paper... at least when they are new anyway. :p

Sorry, couldn't resist :p

A new Fiat Panda is £4995 with the (s)crappage allowance.

Then again it probably wouldn't fit in the double-DIN cutout.

I was amazed to see how much the cost of COMAND has increased, but I do laugh when folks say buy a garmin.. it is cheaper.

I have bought a nice system for our stretched limo.... but cheap it is not and when we compare the full functions and the styling.. My guess is that it is still going to be an expensive game to try to compete

COMAND - 6 disc CD/DVD changer, HDD map navigation, 4GB music register, SD card slot and Linguatronic and of course full steering wheel functions as well asthat vewry good linguatronic

Go used. I got a 16 month old ML in my sig for 20k less than was on the original receipt...

Absolutely! I would never buy a new car, let someone else take the hit in the pocket!
