Commenting to The Boss just now reminded me of the strange and sometimes really off-hand treatment I've received by MB sales staff.
Most notably at MB Watford where the sales guy refused to acknowledge my wife in the process and for "she who must always be given attention", this was a total no no! Needless to say, we bought elsewhere. Anyone else received less than worthy treatment at the hands of our favourite car salespeople? :)

wow...

i never really liked that dealership when serving as its a very hollow environment.. to clinical.

Once i was waiting to talk to a sales guy, and 3 of them were giggling and joking for a good 2 mins before acknowleding me waiting.

but for location of viewing the car, might be better for you. Needless to say, buying one might be cheaper in another country.

Stuttgart dealer can give me over 32% of list from when i was doing my enquiries on certain cars if bought new, to UK spec..

They have a full UK spec option in Germany...

Maybe the EURO doesnt help, but where the UK dealers fail, Stuttgart im sure will help all.. lol

Milton Keynes was similar. I once went in to look at a car and despite standing by the car in a calm, assertive manner (those who watch "Dog Whisperer" will know what I mean LOL) for at least 5 minutes, none of the unoccupied sales people acknowledged me! Amazing! When I was a car salesman, the team would jump hurdles to be the first one to get to a customer!

didnt you hear that Health and Safety regulations do not allow a sales rep to make the first move!.. apparently it can cause intimidation and thus conflict with the sales of goods act that the customer might not have been free willed in buying what ever they did, thus the govt legistlation act 123.4.32 has to ensure that the sales rep must not make eye contact until you "the client" have done so and then and only then is he/she allowed to converse and he must also not acknowlege those around you, as the risk of being sued for emotional distress to the client has been written in the legislation.. or there abouts lol..

yeah i agree, totally ridiculous.. o well..

I had a similar experience at that very same dealer when I visited with a view to puchasing my A170.

On arrival I was passed down by the Sales Manager I had contacted by phone, to another (more junior) colleague

This "Sales Executive" was more interested in shoehorning me into one of his "stocked" vehicles and would not listen to the specification that I wanted.

I walked away and took my cash sale business elsewhere..........However do they sell anything with that attitude?

The whole experience was very offputting and rather disturbing. Not at all what I expected from Mercedes Benz

service is probably at al all time low.. kinda explains to downfall in the jd customer satisfaction surveys.. which im sure takes into account not just the car but the overall experience.

There was a total plonker of a sales man at mercedes Finchley rd, now in Temple Fortune..

not met such an idiot in my life..

On a more positive note, the most beautiful sales lady i have met, and possible beautiful lady full stop is a sales girl at Mercedes Benz Caterham. Serina.... OMG.. i bought my last 2 cars from her, simply on ... well her!

The car came second lol

When i bought my CLK from MB Swindon they couldn't do enough until i paid the deposit. After this the guy that sold the car to me told me he was going on holiday for 10 days and if i need to speak to anyone to ask for any of the sales staff. Every time i did no one was available and no one returned the call. When i picked up the car he talked me through the customer satisfaction form. Telling me if i tick the wrong boxes he would get charged £100 and if i ticked the right box he would get £100 not what you want to hear when you go to pick your car up. He also phoned today and talked me through the form again that was good of him not.

Such a depressing life he seems to lead..

If only he focussed on the job to hand, then the money will automatically flow in..

when you focus on the money, and only that, then money is the last thing u will get hmmmm.. lol

ok Good nite..

We had the same experience when buying my wife's A180. He was actually pretty helpful (I am not naming names but I believe you are talking about the same salesman) but when it came to that customer satisfaction form, cripes, you would have thought nothing else on earth mattered! My wife was actually pretty happy and only marked the parts counter (the one at MB Swindon used to be nothing more than a desk - the actual parts counter was through the workshop!) down for being a bit slow. This salesman phoned me several times as they had had negative feedback from MB HQ at Milton Keynes. Wifey was not impressed as she had not made any negatives about him!!

Overall though, MB Swindon is actually pretty good. Hats off to Richard at the Service desk and Mark, probably their best techie.

I think it varies. When I bought my old C class it was from the Harrogate dealership. They were very good to deal with throughout, although I was not quite as impressed with the service department.

Doncaster MB Sales did not seem very proactive. The amount of time I have spent in the coffee area, with the sales people passing me for coffee, I have been completely ignored. I would have thought a polite hello - or even a surprised 'are you still here!' might be in order. Having said that this is no different to BMW in Scunthorpe.

Maybe that old saying of 'nowt so queer as folk' could be changed to 'nowt so queer as car salespeople'!!! Doesn't quite have the same ring to it though.... ;)

I would be careful since at one time MB cars bought on the continent had different warranty conditions e.g. 1 year warranty rather than 3!

watford dealership

I found the sales person at Watford very unhelpful. I was interested in buying a new e class W212 but he seemed totally uninterested. Phone calls and emails never replied to etc. Ended up buying it elsewhere. I cannot understand this atitude considereing how difficult trade must be at the moment.
