Can anyone reccomend a Specialist in Berks, I have been using Greenoaks in Reading, but I would prefer to use a specialist (because they are cheaper) for a few niggles I have with my CLK!

Cheers

Star Motors or John Griffiths, both in Caversham, or Osbourne's in Maidenhead all seem to have pretty goof reps.

I personally dont think any of these two are honest!

My car left ian wrights after a my brake sensor was replaced ESP BAS malfuntion was showing. the airbag light was on asoon as i left. I went back straight away and ian told me it was the seat sensor and that he could fix it for £55, needs a new pad.

Called MB 6 months later as it didnt bother me that much, found out the part was £90 so how could he possbily replace it for £55? On closer inspection found it to be a break in the wire wasnt a snip looked more like it was burnt with a lighter!

Prior to this hes given me a quote and after work completed charge extra not buy much 10-20 but thats the point!

John girffins i dont believe to be honest either. got a qoute for him to replace engine mounts and steering coloum gater.
His labour prices were correct but wanted to charge 89 per mount and £15 for a £4 gater!( I do my homework before i call). But i have never used him.

I try to do most the work myself .but am still looking for a honest garageas there is always going to be things i cant do.

When i bought the car i had the first service done by mercedes, but i couldnt justify changing the oil every 15000 miles. After this i have been changing my oil myself every 7500 miles and the filter every 15000.

My car has 400k on it and i owned it from new, ive never had any problem with my engine, going to get the injectors changed soon as the mpg has droped a little(original injectors). Had the gearbox replaced at 286k but i still believe that it would of lasted if i had regulary changed the fluids
mercedes told me that it was sealed unit!

So any one know of any honest indys in the berkshire area?

Thanks

extend that to Oxfordshire too please :)
need a B service and some problem with the seatbelt / seat sensor thingy fixing.
would do the service myself but car's got less than 40K on it so ideally want the service stamp....
plus I haven't got a definitive list of what's included in the service.

There's Pro-Tech, just south of Newbury; I've used them in the past and been happy with the service received.

Also a place called M.E.R.C in Woolhampton; Not used them, not sure if they are/were part of the used car place that is there, but most of the Merc's I've seen going through there for sale have been pretty ropey.

M E R C quoted me 120 pounds to fit the steering coloum gater including the 4 pound part he also said that it was around 15 pounds said it was a 2 . 5 hr labour. to fit.

He wanted 100 to fit the two engine mounts, all in all he wanted
216 pounds labour he was aking, and i was to supply parts. He also used to work for John griffin

i got the mounts and gater fitted from another garage for 80 pounds although this was not a mercedes specialists.

I will be giving Pro tech a shout when needed.

Thank you

Both good, but have not used Wayne for some time only due to location.
You could also try the garage under the arches in Windsor a few doors down from the lawn mower shop, if you need a phone number I get it for you, they are good for bits that are not Mercedes speicif.

As neilr, I have used John Griffiths for years, no issues, just honest advice and work. I understand that Star come well recommended too.

I had a chat with the guy who owns Star.

He seems to know what he was talking about and I have heard good reports of them.

I've used Star a couple of times on the SLK, not had a problem with them. I'll also be taking the E320 there.
