Is it worth asking your mechanic mate down and booking in a number of gearbox oil changes (and maybe spark plugs?) I'd be interested in this, but don't know how practical it would be.

Cheers
Andrew

Is that it ? The forum has 2416 Members and only 23 put their name down for this, that's less than 1 %

Do so many members really have a car they either dont want to drive or dont want others to see ?

Even at the current figure, its much much better than other forum gtg's! Anyway, loadsa people will sign up at the last minute and turn up on the day...

Jay

@ Ray, It's early days yet, at last years March GTG we had around 50-60 cars and that was not so well promoted, this will be a big one, trust me.

There are plenty of Travelodge type places for accomodation:

Travelodge. A14 Westbound <1 mile
Travel Inn. A14 Telford Lodge <1/2 mile
Ibis Wellingborough. @6 miles
Hilton Corby. @9 miles

There are also plenty of local hotel's but got no idea what any are like or which to recommend.

There are no fast food or takeaways in walking distance, I could probably organise a burger van if there were going to be enough punters for them.

@Flyer, Wayne the mechanic will be available for advance bookings. Gearbox ATF changes would require a ramp which is not on site but a few miles away, it can be arranged but we will need advance warning.

Thanks James. Can you give an idea of price? I know it's a fairly simple procedure, but best be safe :)

What about spark plugs?

Cheers

What time do these events normally finish. I don't think I can make it for 11am but should be able to get there for about 1.30 - 2pm. Will everyone have gone home by then?

I'm sure you'll still find some of us there at 2pm ! :)

For sure. Some of us will arrive later, but I would imagine the event to go on well past 2-3, maybe 4?

Should we invite Meguiars?

Jimmy & Sym,

As meguiars now supply MB branded car polish etc. Would it be worth contacting them to see if they would like to come along? They are based in Daventry so it is not far for them and even if they can't make it they might at least send over a load of samples :) :) . There contact details are on www.meguiars.co.uk. Guess we would need to talk to marketing

The benefits for them is they meet a load of enthusiasts who use a multitude of products, and would be interesting in seeing what they have on offer. The benefit for us is we find out about them and their products ( and may get a free sample of polish!!!)

If this is a reasonable idea and does not create any other issues I am unaware of I suppose the invite should come from the event organisers who know more about the meeting and the Club but if you wanted me to give it a try I would be happy to call them.

I have just spoken to Rob at Meguiars, very interested in the club but cant make it to the GTG, said he will try and send me some promotional stuff and samples for you all to try. (I will wait and see!!)

Great idea, so does anybody know anybody else to invite? From a car care company, to audio, in fact anything. Trouble is the bigger companies are used to going to big events so a smaller distributor may be more interested.

Also is anybody thinking about having their windows tinted? If so get in touch with me as Dec from DB tints wants a car to tint on the day for demonstration purposes.

Spoken to local dealer about coming to the GTG........

The sales manager will ring me back.......(not holding my breath!)

Does he just tint or does he do the security tinted laminate as well aka pentagon supaglass?

I wondered about having the SL done , hmmm but that would mean bringing the hard top as well , plus I wonder if they could tint the "plastic" rear window on the soft top to match?

There is a guy called Mark who does Swissol stuff - he does TT's a lot via their owners club and they rate him really highly - not cheap - but a phenominal job apparently. Gives good discounts to the TT mob. Could be worth an approach. I've PM'd you his contact details ;)
