Erm , on looking back at the mboa forum , i noticed there was a new admin . Ian . I also noticed that evernone with the www.mbclub.co.uk address in their signature has had it butchered out . I refered back to the T&C of the board and have noticed it says nothing about not being able to put URL's into your signature.

They must class a URL as an objectional .

What Fuzzer is trying to say is that someone has removed the MBclub.co.uk from our signatures

wtf? Have they filtered "mbclub"?

yeah mbclub has been filtered , but MBCLUB had not

Our posts on the MBOA website have been deleted! I recently posted a topic called 'Test Message' and also responded to a message. Both have been deleted.

Guys,
I direct your attention to the "important announcements" section:

The MBOA forum is one of the features of the Mercedes-Benz Owners? Association. It provides a platform for the exchange of ideas and information on Mercedes-related topics.

The forum has never been used to promote the Association to any great extent, and by the same token, it shouldn?t serve as a platform for the promotion of other organisations.

Whilst it may be helpful for the existence of businesses and other forums to be drawn to the attention of members, recent overt advertising is threatening to dilute the efficiency of the forum.

In the interests of users, therefore, we respectfully ask contributors to avoid deliberate advertising when posting questions and answers on the forum.

I guess the moderators can chop 'n' change their rules as they see fit.
Yup, my sig has been hacked too, I wonder if they will clamp down on Andy Gayle advertising his many needed services too?

Its fair enough , if one abides by the terms and conditions , but there is surely some sort of dictstorship and censorship going on within the mboa forum . For about 1 hr koolvin , david s and i were posting messages onto the forum , each time , the messages were being deleted . We were asking the new admin with a chip on his sholder (Ian Campbell) questions about himself and about his intervention so suddenly after things have been ticking over smoothly for a long time . I clocked the other two moderators , man merc and roger to have posted last in Jan of this month .... I think they are waking up and smelling the coffee that their forum , but this dude is just hacking everything out.

The ammended t&c should have been sent to us all by email with a reason for the change .....

Its just another example of their double standards, my signature has been hacked, but Andy's hasn't.

So according to their rules above i'm not allowed to advertise but others are.

Very soon the only things logging on over there will be the moderators, and a bit of tumble weed called Colin!!

As quick as the get rid of the mbclub part of my signature, i'll put it back, i wonder who will get fed up first??

Fuzzer,

I'm intrigued... what did you post in the technical forum at 7:53p.m. that warranted deletion?

p.s. guys, anyone notice my invisible link in my sig at MBOA?

This is in danger of turning into pathetic points scoring and one-upmanship.
I had high hopes for this forum, but bugger it - I'm off back to the MBOA.
Whats with all this holier-than-though bull that's rife in here?
No disrespect folks, each to their own and all that, but I'm leaving the Koolvin fan-club, let me know when you stop winging about the MBOA and get back to talking about Mercs.

I replied to a deleted topic which ill post below. and then you can see how much of a big kid Ian Campbell really is.

I asked the question " who is Ian Campbell , which i don't think is too unfair a question since he is storming in with his gun's blazing and annoying everyone.

He then promptly deleted that thead to which Dave s replied to followed bu koolvin. Now , when the topic is bumped , it stays on the server , so i still got the topic id and with the wonders of modern technology , i give you one of the so called offencive threads ....... This guy must have had a sheltered life to find this offencive.

enjoy and tell us all what u think .....

Not looking to reopen the rights and wrongs of this issue - just personally in favour of competition, and choice. I don't see why both can't survive perfectly well side by side.

MBOA have now made it impossible to post a link to this forum in the text of a message. The words 'mbclub' in the URL are automatically replaced by asterisks.

Check it out here.

In all the time I have used the internet, I've never come across that before. I can understand them balking at pure promotional stuff, but when you are trying to pass on information to another enthusiast - that, IMHO, is BAD.

I totally agree, that is so "childish"

Not wishing to open old sores, but the July MBOA mag has the following...

"Many thanks to Koolvin for providing the photographs of the UK Get Together printed in last month's edition of Mercedes Owner."

Better late than never.

It's interesting to see how this forum has developed a distinct style in such a short time - and I certainly value having both available.

I shall be checking out the members' area of other one (MB Owners Club) shortly, having joined to avail myself of their classic car insurance deal.
