hi just a small question on the MCT box the display on dash is P R N D C or sports etc if im in D and operate the paddle shift it will appear in a box D4 D2 which ever gear your in does it automatically go back to just D after a time as with the bmw dct box once you touch the paddle it stays in manual until you knock the to the right to go back to D if this makes sence

I don't have an MCT transmission. However if I go into manual mode on my E350 CDi with 7G-tronic it shows the number of the gear I'm in and then after a brief period of time without a change reverts to showing 'D'.

I don't believe the MCT is any different but there are plenty of members on here who will be able to confirm either way. :)

My jag xfs when in D then the paddles take it to manual i understand that but the jag just gives you the gear your in the c63 says d1 d2 etc in a box ive just not noticed that in a car before but tbh most of mine were manual

If you use the left paddle while in D-mode you have not selected Manual shifting, rather you have engaged the “shift restrict” function. This means that (for example) if you select D4 then the box will automatically shift up and down through the first 4 gears but will not select 5th or above without driver intervention. It will not default back to normal D-mode unless you either pull and hold the right-hand (upshift) paddle, or change the gearbox mode using the controller on the centre console.

If you select true Manual mode using the mode selector then the box will stay in the selected gear regardless of road speed / throttle application and will not automatically shift up or down. The exception is if the road speed drops so low for the gear selected that the engine speed would be forced below normal idle in which case the box will automatically select the next lower gear.

Cheers i think that explains it i know manual on center is just manual it was just the D3 etc in a box never seen that before
