2 laps of the block ~4km done in 25 mins, heart rate was 165 at the end.

Oh dear. 5 years ago I could have done 6km in the same time.

Anyone else motivated to move their middle aged back-side more than usual?

I bought a cross trainer last year. It became a large cumbersome clothes horse for 6 months.

I accepted the reality that middle age spread is a lifestyle choice and I sold the X trainer on eBay.

< 5'8" - 15.5 stone and constantly told I'm "Obese" every time I visit a medical professional:crazy::rolleyes:

Same problem - 5'11" and over 17 stone - obese.

Now where's that comfort food........

Just started running again after a long long lay off and it has been a nightmare. Achilles tendons at first, then calves, then glutes. Comming out the other side and running a lot easier but your body really does not help itself does it. 5'10 and 14 stone, the heaviest I've ever been :(

A moderate level of fitness would be nice to have. If I can run 10km in 50mins that would do me fine.

As for you guys......chop chop. It's never too late to change old habits.

Thats not that bad mate, im sure alot of people would struggle to achieve that.

I adopted exercise as a way of life in my teens and have been doing road work and gym ever since. I use the first 5 to 10 mins as a warm up period to reduce the risk of injury and the final 5 minutes to warm down.

I am 5' 7" and weigh in at 11st 3lbs on a good day.

Years ago I pounded the roads before going to work but now limit myself to cycling and much reduced weight training due to suffering with Atrial Fibrillation for the last 4 years.

Exercise can be fun if you meet up with similar minded people and socialise with a coffee and a cream cake (sometimes) after the sweaty period.

Just do it but take it easy and don't forget to enjoy it.

If someone can run round me without becoming breathless, they're fit.

I bet you can't do our 10k village run in 50 minutes, A challenge for for next June. ;)

I do a 10K run 3 times a week and it takes me an hour or just under... quite a few steep hills though.

Sounds like another one for our local challenge.

A quick run round then fish, chips and a pint. I'll take the photo's...

Mrs Dm runs longer than 10k on her training runs and has just gone out to do...16 miles...

I used to run in my forties, best time back then was 1:35:25 for a half marathon, but that together with 35 years hanging out of racing dinghies seems to have done my knees in, and much as I would like to jog around, the joints aren't up to it any more, still athletics at 68 is a bit daft anyway, at least that's my excuse. Have managed to keep the weight gain down to just a stone since my sailing days so reasonably happy.
