Media Interface

Can anyone tell me what functions the media interface for the W204 offers?

I have the COMAND system and am interested in the media interface but Im not sure what it can do.

Does it allow you play movies from an iPod or other device? Can you control the iPod from the COMAND screen and see playlists etc? What other functions does it offer?

Id be grateful for any info from someone who has this or knows.

Ok, as you have COMAND in a W204 you have 2 choices of iPod connectivity

a) dealer fit Merc iPod kit - provides control/track-display/etc from the instrument cluster & steering wheel controls ONLY
b) Media Interface which allows you to control it all from the COMAND screen - if you look at the pictures at the end of my media interface retrofit document you can see the menu on COMAND - and yes you see the playlists etc. You can also plug a USB memory stick etc into the media interface rather than an iPod.

Now, the Media Interface has video wiring from the connector in the glovebox to the COMAND, so I suspect it will work with Video - but I never tried it with a video ipod to see whether it worked with the video side of the device - and I didnt try it with video files on a USB drive to see whether the COMAND played them.

Officially the Media Interface is factory only order, but it is retrofittable - speak to Alfie - or read my document !

If u want to connect external Video source to your command with a media interface, u need an adisional cabel to the 3 who is standard, is that correct? Do anyone know partnumber of this or what it is called?
