Somewhere in Germany this morning (near Ulm actually) we pulled into a services for a teabreak. Stopped there was a CLK convertible with the bonnet up and a waft of smokey heat issuing therefrom. The engine was ticking and spitting from the heat. The elderly owner, stood there with a litre of cheapo oil, couldn't get the oil cap off so I obliged.
Now, I didn't know that these four cyl engines had a dipstick but it did and there was zero oil showing. Elderly owner said there was a Visit Workshop warning came up on the dash.
After tipping in his one litre and despite my protests he slammed shut the bonnet and shot off down the sliproad.
Wonder how far he got?
