You did get a 280SE 3.5 Coupe , but I’m pretty sure it was still a W111 , same as the 220Coupe it was derived from - early cars had the ‘Lichtenheiten’ or ‘Tombstone’ headlamps , stacked headlamps came later . Very late cars got the Fuchs alloy wheels .That is a dream car because you just made it up
The 300SE coupe came with an inline 6 all alloy 3.0 liter engine. The 280SE (W111) came with the 3.5 V8.

The W112 was , IIRC , only the Fintail 300SE .
I remember, a good many years back , walking into a breakers yard where a 280SE 3.5 Coupe had just arrived and was offered the whole car for £200 , knowing my parents would crack up , I said no thanks !!!As in the W108/W109 cars, the main difference is that the W108 was spring and the W109 had air suspension (hence why the 300SE 4 door was a W108)
The 220/250/280SE's are W111 that came with a variety of enignes, the 300SE was a W112 which had air suspension and was only available with the M189 I6 engine.
The 300SE was available as a coupe , convertible or as a sedan in either short wheelbase (300SE) or long wheelbase (300SE/L) form. I was offered a 300SE coupe about 15 years ago for $4,000. It was rough and I thought that it was too much money. Not a smart move on my part.

The ones that seem to be ten a penny right now are CLK cabs , my pal already has one he got for £200 , has been offered another for £500 , and I just pointed him to one lying in a street with flat tyres and on running the plate MOT expired in December and Tax in January, so could be another cheap car .Yep, there's a nice looking 94 W124 E320 Cabrio for sale locally for $4200. I'm quite sure that in 10 years time, I'm going to regret not buying it.
My W140 is on an S plate , and being a 99 must be one of the last , and the end of an era , with only the R129 left from that generation by then .I remember when the W208 came out (on an S plate) back in the 90's. They were a revelation and beautiful from every angle. They're cheaper than dirt here too and they're not rusty either. it's getting harder to find nice ones these days which is a shame. If I can find a CLK55, I would be all over it (once I sell 20 or so cars).
Wow the sound of that blower.Too many to remember; favourite was probably my Ponton , certainly longest kept at 34 years .
