I have a major complaint about a dealership in France where I had some work done. I want to kick up a fuss to Mercedes headoffice, or their french HQ at least. They messed me around on price, nearly doubling it half way through, failed to communicate unless it was to ask for more money, and after everything I find there is a box of new unfitted parts in the boot and a knocking noise coming from where they should be fitted!!
I'm taking it to my trusted garage to get a report done on it, I may sue if theres any chance I'll win, but I need to start writing letters, so if anyone has the addresses of Merc HQ's would be much appreciated.

Update from Haynes Specialists is quite alarming. The French dealer has neglected to fit the rubber bush at the top of the shock on the near side front. The shock is hitting the chassis over every bump. The headlight rubber has not been fitted correctly, and there’s a relay clicking in the rear off side door. The front wing is also considerably different in colour to the rest of the car, and doesn’t even look blended with adjoining panels. :(

They're putting this in writing to me so I can go back to the French dealer, but I'd like to cc it all to the top somewhere still if anyone knows the best place to start.

Its all left me pretty p*ssed off as you can imagine, I knew to start with that Paris garages are all crooks, that’s why I thought it better to play safe and take it to a main dealer. Anyone think I have a chance in hell of charging them to have it put right?

Telephone MB Customer Care in Maastrict. 00800 17777777.

They raise a complaint against the dealer and keep on top of it until it is resolved to your satisfaction.

Due to a complicated situation I have recently used this route, and further to the repair they have today left me a message to contact them to conclude their case.

I have had several follow up calls whilst my case was being dealt with.

I am actually happy with the repair now performed but had to involve MB due to two dealers arguing over liability and repair techniques.

Had an accident late last year in my C36, which partly helped me to decide to replace it with a C43 (ESP!)

So here's the JAWDROPPING report on the main dealer repairs.....

I don't understand all the numbers and diagrams  cos i'm a simple guy really....

But the list at the start is enough ...... thats shocking !!!! :(

Hope you get it sorted out ! :)

What damage was caused by the accident?

What repairs did the French garage find and repair?

How long ago was the accident and how many miles have you driven since taking back the car?

Was it a large dealership that carried out all the repairs or was any work sub contracted?

Did you sign for the car when you collected it? No doubt the form was in French, are you a fluent French speaker\reader and could you understand it? If you could not understand the form did you put that in writing?

There does indeed appear to be problems, and I take it you are laying all these problems at the hands of the French garage?

I have asked these questions merely to get a picture of what your complaint is. (I am a nosey devil)

Good luck with your claim,
John

I could have sworn that I remembered this:

And weren't you selling it in the classifieds?

...The car has had two previous owners, the last one before me was a good friend of mine. The car has a clean HPI, No mechanical defects and has just had a full respray in brilliant silver by mercedes benz. Very good condition inside, and out...

Sounds a bit dodgy to me mate.

Surely no one would attempt to sell such a vehicle?

Minor damage to front bumper and side wing where I hit a plastic bolard thing, and underside damage to the bottom of the subframe, suspension and antirollover bar, sump etc (went up a nasty curb)

They said it was on the boarderline for an insuranse company to cough up considering the cars value, but as they backtracked later on and said they woundnt pay out, I stood to loose the whole value of the car unless it was repaired.

It happened a month or two before last xmas.

Yes, a large main dealer, did it all themselves as far as I know, but I didn't see a bodyshop, so that may have been a 3d party or they bodged it themselves.

Nope, I'd already paid in full as they demanded else they wouldn't have finished repairs... (nice eh!)

Not me, I've contacted the people above, they were sympathetic and are arranging someone to liase directly with the French garage.

Yes, that was a few weeks after I got the car as I remember. It was just a moment when the back end went all light, I wasn't too used it then, I've since been down the same bit of road and there's a slight undulation in the road there. This was not the accident.

I was... and had planned to have it resprayed before actually selling it as I had soooo many stone chips. The previous owner had agreed to chip in as one of his kids managed to drag a bmx down the side of it just before I collected it! Once its all sound I'll be trying again.
