What amazing timing!

I was involved in a (no fault of mine) crash last week which resulted in my MY2000 E280 being written off.
I am currently negotiating with the insurance company about the value of mine and so this is evidence that they have undervalued mine. Mine was in better condition than this one!

They gave me a VW Scirrocco TDi as a replacement with a DSG gearbox.

Very nice combination of engine and box - unbelievably responsive.

Car no good for a family though so I've swapped it for a C class. No idea what it is as no badges or clues other than its a diesel. First impressions are that it is very ponderous compared with the VW.

I'm also surprised how little things have moved in in 12 years. I'm struggling to see meaningful improvements over my old E, which is disappointing!
 
Well, you might be right DM, but this is a new one and back then even new E classes didn't have rust.

Give this one 3 or 4 years and then we can draw that conclusion!

Anyway, the C is actually a petrol - one of these new fangled 1.6 litres. Sounds a bit rough compared with the V6 I had previously, so I assumed it was a diesel.

Goes alright though and is a nice place to be. Just no nicer than the 12 year old E
