Are Mercedes spark plugs just rebranded NGK ones?

Seen on ebay Newcastle Mercedes selling set of 8 for £125 with a nice little merc badge on and on the back which what looks like NGK?

OR I could get NGK branded ones for under £60 which is a no brainier.

Yes they are just NGK plugs with an extra logo printed on them ;)

We all pay premium for the star which is printed on each and every part.
Buy suitable NGK plugs and you're good to go.

Thats good to know as I couldn’t care less for the merc badge on a hidden part haha

Also had a quote from Mercedes to replace me left side wing mirror indicator LED light..... £222!! Damn I didn’t know the part was £120ish and the labour £100 for what 20-30mins max work!

If anyone knows the part number for the led light to replace on the wing mirror It will be much appreciated

Looks like we're all suckers getting jipped by the $tealer

Would never take my cars back to the dealers unless its warranty work or a recall.

Which in this case was a recall. Even when they ask if I want it washed its a NO!!! Seen too many cases and know a lot of mates who work or worked for main dealers and they don’t wash them “safely”

So this indicator part I will source and do myself as I’m fairly competent and I enjoy it to be honest.

What year is the car? Saloon/coupe or estate?
MB-Newcastle should have the part on the shelf anyway.

2013 saloon. Yeah but they said it was the full unit to be replaced.... £120 for the part. Yet you can buy the LED indicator separate else were for under £60.

According to this Parts catalogue, the dealers are correct. Its the whole mirror cover with the indicator built in:(
Part # 100 in the list
( A 212 810 09 64) and all are colour coded.
LEFT OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR MERCEDES C-KLASSE [Car] [CHASSIS] (EUROPA)

Most Nercedes spark plugs are either Bosch or NGK (though they sometimes use other makes as well).

Interestingly, I bought on a couple of occasions MB-Branded NGK plugs for the same price as non-MB-branded ones. Go figure....

That’s strange as this is very cheap:

Mirror side indicator LED 5901532629934 | eBay

Is that not the same thing? Its only the indicator none of the motor etc.

Also that part number is the complete housing and motor which is not what I need. Now I’m no expert but I have changed a few LED/bulbs in the past and a few of them have been wing mirrors and there is always a separate part for the lighting.

Not always the case. Homologated v. generic tyres, pattern v. MB windscreens, are just two examples where parts are altered to MB specs by the same company that sells them too. Not saying spark plugs from NGK are inferior to MB branded ones (I use Bosch in mine) but it’s not always “just the MB logo” that adds to the cost.

Difference between other car parts.

Lemförder aftermarket is inferior to Lemförder part branded with a Star.
Take suspension parts, the bushes are the same as I have seen the parts number stamped on aftermarket control arms, but the protective coating preventing rust is inferior on aftermarket part where the Star branded part probably was powder coated?

I have Italian made Lemförders suspension parts which turned out like an w210 E-class full of rust.
I would say, home made domestic parts like Germany are way better than italian made Lemförders.
Wurst and sourkraut versus pasta bolognese, which ones tastes better and lasts longer?
A good idea is to check made of origin before purchase.

This is correct in principle, but the MB spark plugs I have seen so far (NGK and Bosch) all had the manufacturer's part number stamped on the base, so at least in this case they were identical to the non-MB-branded plugs.

A good example however is Varta, who make batteries for MB to MB's spec, but do not make the same battery models available under their own Varta/Bosch brand - i.e. you can't buy a non-MB Varta battery that is 100% identical to the original MB-branded Varta battery that came with the car from the factory.

I agree, the led should be seperate to the housing. I'm only going on the link I posted.
That eBay item does not fit the 2013 C63 as I have pasted below.
Put the car details into the compatability section and you'll see this.

This item doesn't fit Mercedes-Benz C-Class 2013 W204 [2007-2014] Saloon Saloon C 63 AMG 6208ccm 457HP 336KW (Petrol).

Someone will know which engines this is specific to but at least one MB engine and I think it's the M276 requires plugs to be indexed i.e. with the plug gap pointing in a particular direction. Genuine MB plugs will align themselves in the required direction when correctly torqued while otherwise identical plugs like NKG will not.

Hi team

I’m new to the forum.
Does anyone knows a good amg garage specialist. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you
