Any good recommendations, preferably with solid AMG experience

Unimpressed with Mercedes Willow Brae in Edinburgh

Help please

TBH, no one has as much AMG experience in Scotland as my indy does.

Knightstwood service centre 0141 951 4447 , ask for Steven. Call him and just speak to him, you'll see why I said that.

Wow their URL seems to have been hijacked. Do not click on their google link, virus time. Will call them!

Thanks - they seem to be the favourite and I'm in Glasgow every week now so not too much of a pain to get there.

Merparts are in Port Glasgow, about 20 odd miles outside of Glasgow.
There's also Carluke MOT centre, specialising in MB's and a place in Coatbridge, ex MB tech out on his own.

I've been impressed by Mercedes Newbridge, it's now our default dealer for younger vehicle servicing.
We drive from Stirling straight past Mercedes Grangemouth to Edinburgh. ;)

I remember on a service last year the chap said, "we recommend cleaning and waxing brake pipes, we would not recommend getting us to do this due to labour cost, get one of your lads to do it". :)

I've always used Newbridge and they have always been amazing.

BUT I've been out of Merc for nearly a year and my contact doesn't work there anymore so we'll see how they are when the E63 goes in for its next service.

You'll have to keep coming down to see me and EC

On a serious note there are some guys up in Scotland with Italian surnames ( can't remember the company name for the life of me) but they are very good MB independents!
Worked on a couple of cossies and other bits they've had a big hand in rebuilding and their work looked top notch.

Good luck

Terry

You never know mate. I will be down often enough!

I've had a quick look around and was going to get rough prices from merparts and then merc at newbridge and then weigh up the pros and cons.

From what I've read merparts has a great name in the independent world and its only just over the hour away from Edinburgh.

Thanks mate - if Terry at WG says go to Merparts that's good enough for me!

I spoke with the Merparts guys today and they seem 1) nice to deal with and 2) very knowledgeable so will go there I think

Cheers for all the recommendations

Interesting that you drive past MB Grangemouth...I live 1 mile from them but have had mixed experiences, particularly since AC took over from John R. Weir.
On the 58 plate 204, they actually cleaned and waxed my brake pipes at no cost at the second MOT. I've also found them to be good at diagnostics and have supplied screenwash and other sundries from their Parts Dept. at no cost to me. However, recently my experience is that their 'safety checks' when the car was in for Warranty, were meaningless...screenwash not topped up, and a tyre pressure low and that with TPMS! It makes me wonder if they can't do safety checks like tyres, what will they miss out on Service?

On the other hand, MB in Newbridge seemed to do a thorough job of servicing and valeting my last car when it was in there, whether for service or Warranty and I would happily go back there.

Thanks for that. I took my e55 to willow brae and they missed a fault code that my guy in london spotted in 10 mins. Consensus is with older AMGs that you need people who know the cars before they even put it on the star diagnostics
