Merc Speedo Pics

Anybody seen this?

Nice - I hope these guys have someone else taking those photos.

I got just under 160MPH displayed in a E55 on the AMG "training" day , on a 1 mile straight (accelerate up then brake) at MIRA. - of course car was restricted to approx 155MPH.

I suspect that Maff holds the UK record :-)

Not up with the "big boys", but C230K manual, pre-ECU remap, 2 adults up front including me, AC running, 3/4 fuel, full boot including 2 spare wheels, long stretch of autobahn (yes really!).

Saw a few digits higher on the GPS, but brother was slow with the camera.

I'd like to see what it would do now it runs slightly richer.

Speedo readings mean nothing.... absolutely nothing at all, especially at 200mph (ish) speeds.

GPS readings are more accurate but still can be a few mph out as has been proved on many occasion with people doing timed flyers.

It's true they are not as accurate as GPS, but it's still fun to show them off anyway.

<disclaimer>Just in case any Plodd are reading, my speedo pic was NOT taken by me nor was it taken in this country. It was snapped by a friend on a German autobahn. </disclaimer>

According to the GPS, 147mph, 3 up with the aircon on. This was an E60 525d on the autobahn to Koln. The funny thing is, BMW only spec it for 141 (I was in the passenger seat at the time, checking the manual). Next trip to the Ring, we're hoping for 150, aircon off with mirrors folded in.

Under similar circumstances, my old Civic VTi-S managed 145. Not bad for a little 1.8, the guy in the 944 seemed very impressed!

Thats an EV12 isn't it ?
