I used to have a MR2 Turbo (jap import) before my merc. 250bhp on a car that weighed next to f**k all! It only had two speeds, 0 and lightspeed! So why didn't I get any points on my licence until I bought my merc??? 6 in the space of a year all from laser guns. Do scuffers hate merc drivers or is it a jelousy thing?!!

lol, no they hate mr2's more than mercs! The difference is, when your doing 100 in an MR2, u know about it, when doin it in a merc then u dont realise! I find im always a bit more conscious of my speed in anything other than a merc..

Jealousy me thinks, cus they cant afford a decent car themselves. So target merc drivers who can afford to cough up speeding fines ;) :D

As a 'scuffer' on my 12th Merc, I wouldn't say Mercs are disliked or unaffordable !!! Trouble is, speed cameras aren't operated by police officers, and you can't talk to a computer. :bannana:

About a week after I bought my W124 I was driving to work one morning thinking " we're going along quite nicely", glanced at the speedo...95 ! oops!

Know the feeling friend, can be a scary experience to find that the world is passing you by so quickly :D

A friend had a similar experience on his (soon to be mine) Hayabusa.

Late for work, in full knowledge he was riding a little briskly down the M3. In his mind, he thought he was doing about 100mph, glanced down at the speedo, 180 mph

6 in one year ??? I'd feel sympathetic for one, maybe 2, but 6 ???? NO.
I assume you're serving a ban now.

Have you ever tried taking your foot off the gas pedal sometimes and matching your speedo reading to the signs at the side of the road. It works for me.

I think he means he got six points (not separate offences).

Ahhh... then in that case, as I said originally, one maybe two I'd have sympathy with.

But anymore than that would be taking the Michael.

Merc man is right, Scuffers earn a packet (well deserved too). I know coz i looked into joining up with them!!! Not for the money but to nick those annoying BMW drivers who feel they have to race us at every opportunity coz they've got an inferiority complex!
I have to agree that speeding in a merc is easy to do. Just when you thought you were pootling along at 60 you're actually doing 90..........honest constable!! :bannana: :bannana: :bannana:

Talking about points, what about this. A guy who works for a friend of mine as a delivery driver who is 22 years old and pays close on to £2k to insure a knackered mk4 escort has 10 points on his licence, thats not all, two weeks ago today he crashed his works Vito into a Taxi and wrote off both vehicles, he told the law that he was doing 30, the vehicle tracker system says his speed was closer to 60 and he is being done for either reckless or dangerous driving, bye bye licence, bye bye job, no licence no job ! No sympathy, safer to take him off the roads.

The Taxi driver was apparently injured and spent the night in hospital and apparently can now longer sit in a taxi for more than 15 minutes with out feeling discomfort and does not feel that he can work ever again...... feels like a massive compensation payout coming on being footed by our inflated insurance premiums.
