Here's my attempt at it...
To cut a long story short, I was on my way back to Cape Town from Windhoek (Namibia) and there were plenty of doves sitting next to (or on) the road early in the morning. I managed to avoid all but this one, which did fly off into the distance but decided to do a 180 and smacked into my car at about 150km/h (90mph?).
I was amazed at how strong that Avantgarde grill is, although the bumper also played a part in the bird basically exploding. The biggest piece I found was a piece of bone with a feather on it. I think it would have damaged the grill if it hadn't hit dead-centre. Excuse the pun. Poor thing, at least it didn't suffer.
