hello everyone, hope I can get some help here.

I have a 2015 mercedes c300h w205 estate,
Last night I broke down (lost transmission) with a yellow warning saying Transmission cooling leave engine running, I rolled to a stop and let it cool and kept the engine running. 30min in tried to drive, it moved 10cm i would say then it disengaged from the gear with the same warning and a extra red warning saying do not change gears consult workshop, called AA but i just got sent a contract recovery, so got it recovered

Today called AA and asked specifically to send a technician to find out the problem,
So the AA guy came and diagnosed the car,
The fault coming up is
P170900 selector lever module faulty.

Could someone tell me what that could be.
Thanks

Do you have a Mercedes specialist close by?

A proper diagnosis on Star is essential to fully understand the fault, the AA person would not have had Star although the test equipment that was used may well be correct in this case.

The module may well have failed or it may be another component that is causing this module to show as failed.

Diagnostic machines are only as good as the person reading and interpreting the information and often you do need manufacturer specific diagnostics.

Has the transmission oil level been checked?

thanks for the reply,
i have never checked the oil my self, I’m in the process of trying get it booked in Mercedes,
I thought if anyone experienced anything like this then I would have a better understanding of what or how it happened and Get a price range of repairing it.
i know dealers are expensive so even if I found a transmission specialist probably could of save a few £££.

MB recovery nowadays use the AA and these guys usually come to a breakdown in an MB liveried vehicle. These guys use STAR for diagnosis...at least the chap that came to me last year showed me the STAR readout.

An independent or if you have someone who does mobile diagnostic and has star.... quite a few out there

My 2016 W205 C300h received a transmission software update from RAC when the EML came on last December. It took the RAC around 15 mins to reset the error codes and download the software into our car.

You should check to see if your car is due a transmission software update with your dealership or indie.

I will have to look into it, thanks

Find an independent MB specialist rather than a transmission specialist. As for costs, until you get a diagnosis no one can predict costs.

Hi guys,
so after looking around and getting frustrated i have decided to take to Mercedes dealers, so got a update today but will get the report emailed to me tomorrow.

i have been told that the gear changing hydraulic systems has failed and they have only given me 95% that this will solve it but it could have other issues after repairing it.

cost, I have been quoted £2300  fault investigation cost not include so few extra £££ and probably vat as well,

so I’m asking if this could be done any cheaper ? If so can anyone recommend a specialist near East London?

or Just some advice will be appreciated

thanks

Sounds like they are quoting for a new valve body, but this code I would have thought relates to the ISM on a 722.9.

I'd be double checking that code definition really, or at least a second opinion

It would be interesting if the OP could come back with an update on his situation.
