Merceded c180 w204 ignition lights but wont start

Hi,I have a 2014 c180 coupe auto. My ignition will turn on all lights as they should be but dead when try and start engine. Key would not come out of ignition and gear selector would not move. Fiddle about checked battery and then started. Any ideas of fault, worried it will happen again.

This could be an issue with the Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS), or the keyfob - did you try with the spare key?

Other possibilities are faulty inhibitor switch (that's the switch that stops you from starting the car when not in P), or the Electronic Selector Module (ESM).

Also, faulty crank position sensor or camshaft position sensor.

You'll need to get the car scanned for fault codes...
