This is by far the biggest mercedes engine iv ever worked on, its fitted in a Grove 5100 all terrian crane that weighs around 70t on the road so this engine and transmission gets quite stressed, its got a 680hp and does around 2-3 mpg on a good day. Even tho its an auto box it still has a normall friction plate clutch that had really started to play up. Even tho the crane is quite big there is little to no room in the engine bay so to remove the gearbox the engine and box had to come out as one. Luckily enough it has 2 engines so where able to lift engine/box out under its own steam. All in all the job for 2 mechanics it took a good day and around £4000 in parts
