Just wondering if the mirrors from a RHD Merc 190E will fit a LHD (I don't think they will but I wouldn't rule it out). Also I need to reaffix a plastic manual remote adjuster to the Drivers side mirror....will this be the same as RHD too?
The mirrors on the 190 are not the same from side to side. the drivers side is rectangular [flat] with the passenger side square[convex]. They can be manually adjusted or electrical operated assuming the wiring is present. Quite often the drivers side is manually adjusted with the passenger side electrical. You can swop rhd and lhd mirrors and they will fit the mountings AFAIK More details here http://ulo.de/original-spare-lamps-...ercedes-benz-opel-volkswagen-evobus-iveco-man
This 190 I've got the problem with is a left hooker and the passenger side mirror glass is cracked. Also the motor is defunct and the manual adjustment lever on the drivers side is missing (just the hole left!). Obviously other than obtaining bits in europe from another left hooker I'm weighing up if getting them off a RHD will fit!
Good news....motor is not defunct as previously thought, the mirror just wasn't housed properly after being replaced by previous owner after the mirror got cracked. Only thing I'm looking for now is a replacement glass and a manual remote handle. Have checked the part no's and it should be the same LHD or RHD according to the russian parts website. Also I notice the mirror glass is a W124 part no and is different LHD to RHD.....just got to find both now and I'd imagine nobody breaking a W201 would fancy selling me just the remote handle!
You should be able to get a replacement mirror glass from your local MB dealer--- at a price. Unfortunately you can't get a "handle" by itself. Its ball socket joint is integral with the mirror mounting plate casting. If there is no handle inner wire protruding into the passenger compartment its probably broken off. Unfortunately MB don't supply individual internal mirror components. The only other possibility is a previous owner converted to electric operation- this is possible with the correct wiring since later w124 coupes had both windows electrically operated. Chances are it's manually operated and broken tho
190 and w124 mirrors are the same and will fit both cars.
You can fit RHD mirrors no problem. If you're the only one who drives the car just adjust the mirrors to the correct position manually and then leave them. As said you can fit a RHD Facelift W124 driver mirror to your LHD passenger side, the plug will not fit, but you can adapt the wiring to work very easily.
If you are dead set on LHD mirrors give www.mercman.net a try, they will have some, probably looking at about £40 a side though i'd imagine.
I see what you mean now, looks like the handle part is integral to the mirror parts and not available seperately.....I saw the handle and that other part exploded next to it and asssumed it was the handle but after looking again it's not.
As for RHD mirrors, I'm a motor trader and this will shortly be for sale and the likelyhood is that it'll go to someone abroad (due to the weak pound) or someone with a home abroad, so keeping it a full left hooker is essential.
