On recent service (local) it was mentioned that the seal on the Propshaft centre bearing was showing wear and could do with replacement.
After a fruitless search for a replacement bearing (earlier models are all mentioned) no Internet search has thrown up a replacement option
I enquired at my local MB dealership and was told that the bearing with mount alone is no longer available for this Model ML
local Propshaft specialist and local garage saying same on availability - option is to replace the whole Propshaft which seems ridiculous given that similar bearings for earlier models come in between £30-£60 while the replacement Propshaft from MB(can't find listed anywhere else) is currently £879 + fitting plus VAT !! --- considering a used spare from online suppliers but you can never rely on an exact match
Anyone else in this quandary
- the part is item 10 on the diagram 1 and in earlier diagrams 2 it was shown as being replaced after splitting the splined shaft in the middle under the bearing
