Different style wheels will show more or less of the valve stem, I was hoping some 18" AMGs might have slightly less valve stem on show and therefore look better with those caps

Shude.
What are they made from?, stainless with any luck?, so they can be trimmed with a junior hacksaw and smoothed with a small round warding file if needs be?.

Right. I think I will have a wander into Derwent Bradford this afternoon and order a couple of sets. One for experimenting with and one for if the experiments go wrong .

At 50p each they're only twice the price of black plastic caps, bargain really!
My dad lost one of his valve caps over the weekend and I gave him one from a set I bought ages ago. He complained that there was no brass-liner inside the plastic cap and it was a sign of the general cheapening of everything!

I got a dozen last week. They are made of nylon with a chrome plate. The threaded bit is stainless I think and it is crimped into the end. They just about cover the whole valve stem on my fronts but not the rears which were an after delivery OEM mod. Still look good though
The heads have an hexagon. Wrap some tissue over them and tighten them JUST beyond hand or finger tight with a smooth spanner. Careful though because they are made from nylon, not metal .
Forgot to add in my earlier posts. They fit the valve stems of our Polo perfectly .
