Try to start the car after it was parked up for 2 weeks. dead as a dodo. called MB assist and they sent out a very pleasent chap (in a nice R class). he was very helpful and managed to get the battery changed under warranty.
good to see good service still exists!

Good news .

If the car is likely to stand for lengthy periods , either a maintenance charger ( Aldi or Lidll sell inexpensive ones every so often and are clones of the more expensive CTEK ones ) , or if the car is left outdoors , a solar charger on the parcel shelf will keep your battery topped up and avoid this happening again .

Most modern cars with alarms and other electronics drain the battery and cannot be left for extended periods - not a fault but just the way it is , sadly .

Good idea, I'll go and buy one today, anyone know if these solar types need to have a particular output?
Firstly for a w203 saloon classic, secondly for a W219 C CLS500?

Looks like they only charge the battery through the cigarette lighter if the ignition is on?
Is this correct?
If so I reccon I would need to use the direct bulldog clips to the battery, pity, would have been very convenient.
