Mercedes Benz 450 roof box spares

I have been trying for ages now to get a pair of roof box lifters for my Mercedes’ 450 roof box, I’d I have a Halfords one, Thule, mint blanc no problem I can get them all day long….. but call Mercedes’ and it’s a black hole…. I’m not buying another £700 roof box just for lifters!

These are the mechanisms on the lid that lift it and are powered by little gas struts

Mercedes don't make these things and mostly they use Thule and badge them as MB

if the gas struts are faulty replacements are widely available on line . The Nm 'strength' should be printed on the struts themselves. Have a search about online. Start by NOT typing in 'Mercedes' or 'Roofbox' .. Good luck.

I had a feeling I’d go down the gas strut replacement , Thule have been quite helpful I’ll get one off today and do some measurements to see what they have might do the job
