This is my first post on this site, but I thought it important to make people aware.

I have received news that Andrew Stansfield of Classic Benz Lancashire has called a creditors meeting for 28th April 2010.

More alarming is that my 1995 Mercedes E220 Sportline cabriolet registration number MBZ 5396 with all of its supporting paperwork which was with Classic Benz has been sold without my express knowledge or agreement by Andrew STANSFIELD. As per Cowgill Holloway - potentially to be appointed as Receivers on 28th April at the Creditors meeting there are no assets or funds.

The Mercedes is still registered in my name at my home address in Lytham St Annes and has been reported to the Police at St Annes on Sea Police Station as stolen. Contact details PC 3224 Chris Hill and PC 3201 Darren Bassett on 01253 293933. Please contact them if you have any further information as to the whereabouts of the car or have also suffered a similar fate at the hands of Mr Stansfield. The car is now marked on the DVLA database as stolen

The car is in Imperial red with black leather only 27k miles on the clock and pristine condition.

Mr Stansfield has a representative in Dublin and has bought and sold many cars in the Republic of Ireland

Please contact me if you have a similar experience with Andrew Stansfield so the information may be passed across to the Police to fully investigate and prosecute as appropriate.

where is your car now or has gone into parts heaven by now!!

Blimey. Real bad news.

Hope you get it back some how some day.

Feel for you fella.

that's awful, did the car have a tracking device fitted? If the police have vin and reg number registered with them that will go to HPI and Experian but you might want to write to both with supporting details. I hope you do recover it, if the car was on the premises it may have been covered by their insurance.

Can I suggest you contact HPI Ireland about the vehicle, HPI Ireland are part of the Irish Credit Bureau as it may have gone across the water. It may also be a good idea to contact the irish police and PSNI just in case.

HPI and all vehicle checking agencies are automatically notified

the car is currently SORN and will be immediately seized by the Police if found in use or in anyone's possession as it is being used illegally irrespective of the manner in which the car was acquired.

I am awaiting further feedback from the Police today and I will request they notify their Irish colleagues accordingly.
kind regards

While this is shocking and short of ringing his neck little you can do.
No doubt he has a big house and nice car!

Am I missing something here, why did he have the car and the paperwork?

So sorry to hear that, I hope it will turn up,

Surely someone knows where it is, especially the bloke that sold it!!! Why are the police not leaning on him to help them with their enquiries.

I know it is an awful thing to say, and I am probably doing the guy a massive disservice, but I wonder if all the money for the cars he was donated to sell for the charity went to charity.

I'll get struck down now!

surely V5 Log would show this up, if sold correctly and all paperwork filed with DVLA.

If it was a genuine sale, with out your knowledge, the correct paperwork might have been sent..

so few of these cars were about, and i think yours had the hard top.. even rarer wouldnt u say

Without knowing all the facts, I would hazard a guess that the car was with Classic Benz to sell on the customer's behalf (on consignment). This is a well known method of selling in the classic car market and this unfortunate incident should make anyone wary of this means of selling.

I really hope you manage to get your car back soon. Hopefully you have sought legal advice. I'm not sure if the Mercedes-Benz Club will be able to advise, but I would suggest contacting the Club Chairman directly to seek his advice. I think you might be surprised at the amount of expertise available with the Club.

Me and another member of the MB Club contacted the Club chairman to advise of a clocked car being sold by one of the "specialists" advertising in the Gazette, we knew it was clocked as I was the seller, and he was the buyer, with this company in between.

The upshot? nothing more than a polite acknowledgement, and the Club still runs his adverts and includes him in the club meet write ups.

Sometimes you wonder who exactly that club is run for.

Is it really up to an enthusiasts club to go around like a caped clocking crusader???? I mean, really.....

far better to inform trading standards and or the police I would have thought.

yep it is criminal offence to clock the car like this and action will be taken by the trader not the owner i would think, let them be shut down:bannana:

I really feel for the owner.. Unfortunately, if it was a limited company, very little will come of this.
I am going through an administration process in relation to a property I bought, its looking more and more likely that we have lost all of our cash..
It hurts.

If the car has left the country, it is unlikely you will see it again..

What do your insurance have to say?

p.s. im sure there are certain members on here that know Andrew quite well? Whatever happens, any personal attack will get nowhere..

I don't know Andrew personally , but always thought he was a reputable trader ?

Perhaps he has been suffering financial difficulties recently ? Does not necessarily make him a bad person - I don't know the timescales involved , but perhaps the 'new owner' will try to register the vehicle then it's whereabouts will come to light .

In such cases , if good title has not been passed , the rightful owner will get it back .

It may be worth notifying Mercedes-Benz - perhaps they can enter the VIN into their computer system , and if the car is presented at any dealer an alert could be flagged up .
