Normally means the original owner went to Germany [as a tourist] and picked it up from Daimler directly rather than involve a Dealer in New Zealand in the traditional way.
It is not a grey import ex Japan for example, it is still a car built specifically to meet the NZL Design Rules that existed at that time.
