Hi guys,

My gearbox got damaged, my gearbox reference is 10722593 A2463702102 01 1506404212. I got few offers for the gearboxes, but with different reference numbers (A246370360280, A2463705800 ZGS001, A2463703602). Also, one which comes from a Mercedes A200 with ref A2463703100. Can you please advise what would be the most suitable gearbox and gearbox oil for my car? My engine no is 2702091030665259 and Vin number is WDD1760422V074449.

Thanking you all in advance for your help.

Regards,
Adil.

Had a look in my copy of EPC.

For your VIN WDD1760422V074449, the only complete transmission unit it lists is A246 370 36 02 Dual clutch transmission assembly. its footnote states its for cars with options A17 (DAS4) and A69 (Carbon Synchronisation). Small note at foot of page states Market: Japan.

For oil, Mercedes Bevolisten (MB's online list of fluids) identifies sheet 236.21 for the 7 speed DCT transmission. This sheet has only 2 entries:

MB 236.21 7G-DCT Getriebeol A 001 989 85 03 and Shell DCT-M1.

Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Operating Fluids: Engine Oil, Gear Oil, ATF, Coolant, Brakefluid
Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Operating Fluids: Gear Oil
MB 231.1 - Specified gear oils (cars, cross-country vehicles) - overview - Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Operating Fluids
MB 236.21 - 7-G DCT transmission oil (ATF, Specification 236.21) - Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Operating Fluids

THIS INTRODUCTORY TEST MAY HELP - OR MERELY SERVE TO CONFUSE?

My guess is that most of the gearboxes mentioned will physically fit- however they may differ internally- different gear ratios/final drive ratio, ECU prgramming etc so that unless the gearbox comes from a very similar model to yours spec and age it may not perform well -if at all.

Hi buddy,

Thanks for your help. My car is hatchback. Does the specifications still applies?

Would think so - the VIN only matches one specific vehicle, and EPC would provide footnotes if any alternative was available/possible.

It is a guess though, that 'sedan', (as mentioned on the EPC list), in MB speak includes what we would call hatchbacks.

I would expect other forum members would soon comment if that is not the case.

Having looked on Wikipedia, its seems W176 was only available in one body style, its only with the 4th generation W177 (hatchback) and V177 (sedan) has the A class had a saloon option.

Had a further look in EPC, your number A 246 370 21 02 refers to the transmission casing only, which was fitted up to 04 2016. its was optional with A 247 370 09 02 casing, i.e. either casing could be used.

Going the other way through EPC, I looked up other uses for the A246 370 36 02 complete transmission, the attached EPC docs show it is the only complete transmission unit specified for vehicles with options A17 and A69. Other transmissions for vehicles without one or both of those options are also shown.

Think this info should help you find the part you need.
