mercedes benz w208 problem with electronic key

Good day, a couple of days back the ignition was bad to take the key! now do not open or close the car! can anyone know what the problem is?
and how much does a new key?

Have you changed the batteries in the key ?

Yes, I was, but it did not help!

New key is £220+

If it's the EIS ( electronic ignition system ) lock , it's big money.

Does the spare key work ? if it does it pins it down to the key being the problem and not the EIS.

i have only 1 key and that key not working!

Take it to an MB Indy and get it read on a STAR before you start changing bits.
