1. MB 'star' keyfob supplied with car when new: fell to bits within 5 months.

2. Replaced with another form the 'MB Collection': 'star' fell off within 8 months (metal fatigue?:D ).

3. Bought another from MB Museuem Stuttgart a few weeks ago...guess what - the 'star' on that one worked loose and fell off too!

Am I alone???

Am now using an (old) VW keyfob I have had for years....

The star fell off one of mine too. Luckily I spotted it and was able to fix it. Blob of supa glue and it hasn't moved since:D

Me too, both my keys have self destructed.

Maybe the car will follow suite.

Mine have all been great! What do you do with your keys?! :)

I generally use mine for locking and unlocking the car - not much good for anything else. I did try to get it to take the dogs for a walk, but it said "no" "cough":D

The actual key blade makes an effective screwdriver though it has to be said:D :D

I dont have the 'Bling' version on my 99 model, yours is a 98 isnt it? - have you had replacement keys? or is there still a star (non chome) visible when they fall off?

Mine are both the chrome star ones, one is a replacement which I hardly use and one is the original AFAIK, I've had the car for 4 years.

Best stop throwing them into a bowl together with everyone else's :D
