Just thought after slating a dealer in another thread I'd give credit where credit is due! I've used these indy guys in Ibrox, Glasgow -

Mercedes Car Specialists

They're a fairly new outfit so not much feedback out there on the web, so I went and checked them out just behind Ibrox stadium in a shiny new ind estate. Run by friendly guys, dealer trained IIRC, they appeared knowledgable and genuine, and had the right equipment (STAR etc).

I only had the front pads and brake fluid changed on my old C-Class, but they did the job quickly, genuine MB parts and charged around 60% of what the main dealer quoted, stamped the book and gave a very professional invoice for my receipts folder. I'd use them again.

Thanks.... Im not too far away from them (and even closer to them on a Saturday afternoon!!!!) so might give them a go as im due a service and mot in July.

Yep, same company under one roof, the external pics of the building are photoshopped on each website so that one shows BMW and the other Merc, but they are one and the same, one of the guys specialises in Mercs, the other in BMW!

Tacky.

I don't quite get the last comment, how is it tacky? Are you referring to the photoshopped/manipulated images of the signage? Plenty of companies use library images on websites and in advertising, these guys are using pictures of their actual premises, but are simply adding the sign in afterwards, would hardly put me off using them!

Exactly. As I said. Tacky.

Whether that would put me off them or not is a different matter.

What does the actual sign or company letterhead/invoice say then?:dk:

A lot of companies trade under a different name.

However this business claims on one website that their main business is BMW service and repair, while apparently on the other that their main business is Mercedes service and repair.

Customer comments are the same on both sites.

They've just substituted the brand name with BMW on one site and Mercedes on the other.

It's a bit worse than just tacky because the claim about main business and the customer comments are into wideboy territory. That probably wasn't their intention - and if their work is OK then it's a little bit unfortunate.

Both. I can only hazard a guess that their signage wasn't ready/erected when the picture for the website was taken.

MB main dealer in Glasgow do have an excellent sign, but they do charge twice as much for any work...I know what matters to me ;)

I do agree with you there Dyce, and whilst I don't agree with the comment about it being tacky, I do think it is misleading and didnt realise the websites were basically identical apart from Mercedes being substituted for BMW, it could appear slightly 'dodgy'.

This, as you say is a shame because they came across as genuine experienced guys to me, with clean, professional looking premises, who did a good job for me anyway at a great price.

I've not heard of any other feedback on this forum or any other about them, which is odd as someone must be using them!

Ummmmmmm. No.

If you photoshop it *twice* then it was intentional. Also there are two websites. And I'm guessing that their business cards are separately branded.

It's just a little unfortunate because I doubt there's any intent to materially deceive but it's not been thought through properly.

You have to be careful generally. If your car just needs a basic service with no extras then MB Glasgow have on occasion been negotiable.

I have two concerns. First off that the main dealer will possibly negotiate to draw you in with the assumption that they will hit you for extras.

The other is communication. Main dealers tend to hide away their mechanics and you deal with the service desk agents. Chances are if you're dealing with an independent then the owner or senior staff will all be mechanics.

Take it for what it is guys.....a garage in ibrox with decent costs and no courtesy car, or if it bothers you goto main dealer and pay full over-inflated prices for a nice little stamp in your sevice book!!!!

Dont be fooled by main MB dealers...their mechanics can be monkeys too....at least in ibrox unit what you see is what you get!!!!
Cheer up.....have a nana.......:bannana::bannana::bannana::bannana:

I used them last week and received good service. These guys rely on repeat business so will/should do a good job for you. The mechanics at main dealers get a wage regardless.

At the end of the day, these guys are mechanics, not web designers.

I would use them again as they are friendly and knowledgeable.:thumb:

I've just been recommended to them by a woman in my wife's work who has had her C Class serviced by them and is thoroughly delighted.

I shall be considering them when I need a service as they look very reasonable for labour.

I used these guys to change disks and pads on my w211 last year and got a good service at a good price. I then used them to do it's next service. I'll be back with my SL as soon as it's due it's next service. I've been let down badly in the past by MB dealer service depts and it's refreshing to have someone so enthusiastic to do a good job.

I have used these guys to change the rear brake pads on my w164 ML320cdi job was done quickly and price was half of what MBZ Glasgow charged me to do the fronts a couple of weeks before. Definately use them again.

Hello, I just used them on monday, and i got a good service they changed my front brakes on my clk in no time at all and at half the price of MB Glasgow, I will be going back on weds to get my car on the star machine to fix my other problem.

Is there one near Parkhead :D :D :D
There is... TJ Oneil - Carntyne.
I've wrote good things about him in the past but now have a different view! He's a butcher and I've got photos to prove it if anyones wishes to disagree. But i suppose it depends on what your wanting done.
