I've wrote good things about him in the past but now have a different view! He's a butcher and I've got photos to prove it if anyones wishes to disagree. But i suppose it depends on what your wanting done.

Any sordid details you're willing to post?

Yeah of course

. I took my c220 there to have the headlight position moved up a little (bi-xenon auto Leveling) It has 2 star screws to manually move the beam patern - should have been an easy enough job that I could have done it myself but since the car was going to have some work done I asked him to do it. (I think it can also be adjusted by Star)
anyway, he failed to notice that there were adjusters on it and took off the bumper, removed the headlight broke off the plastic molded bracket that is part of the headlight, re-fitted the headlight and screwed in a self tapper to what was remaining of the bracket and re-fitted the bumper minus the metal c clip that holds the bumper and wing together.
So end result was a broken £800 Bi-Xenon headlight that didn't need any modification to it!
When I was there he asked me why did the car have a sensor on the rear axle if it didn't have self levelling suspension. To anyone that doesn't know its for the self leveling HEADLIGHTS - not what you would expect from a "Mercedes Specialist" but then again he didn't train with Mercedes it was Ford - I later found this out by someone who used towork with him. But thats not to say that the guys who work for him aren't merc trained.

Took a W210 E320 CDI to him that was chucking thick black plumes of smoke, he took it a run and said it just needed a run, many many spirited miles later it wasn't any better, so I ended up taking the egr off and pulled out the gunk that was in it - I wasn't intending to do any work on the car myself but ended up doing so.
Before the black smoke there was a wobble under braking, he suggested a new wheel bearing and it ended up being a warped disc - It wasn't me that took the car that time.

I have a few more stories that I can share but I think I've done enough bitching, and if you want to see the photos of the headlight I can post it up.

Can I just double check this is TJ O'Neill you're talking about, not Merc Car Specialists in Ibrox? (as in the actual thread/topic title)

There is... TJ Oneil - Carntyne.
I've wrote good things about him in the past but now have a different view! He's a butcher and I've got photos to prove it if anyones wishes to disagree. But i suppose it depends on what your wanting done.

hi mate email me the pics please.. i used to go there few years back but never again i always knew he was a robbing *****

Going to these guys tomorrow ( the one near Ibrox) for brake pads, as the "brake wear, visit workshop" warning just came on.

Shall see what it's like, but sounded professional on the phone.

Bob they are great guys very pleasant and trustworthy from the moment you walk through the door to the moment you get your car back fanatstic well priced aswell and won't tell you the dearset thing first.

Just picked my car up from Mercedes Car Specialists at Ibrox this morning. This was its first service since Jan 2004 :)eek:) albeit it has only done 2.5k miles since then. Dave, the owner, was very friendly and explained what he would do to the car given its service history. It's a 20 year old car and so has plenty of things that could be done, but we had a good chat about what jobs were worth doing and what could be left.

Full service and safety check, coolant service, throttle body cleaned (I had been suffering with an intermittent stalling problem) all for £333 (£168 labour + £122 parts + VAT). Took it in yesterday expecting to pick it up that afternoon but he asked if he could have it overnight to check its performance from cold.

They certainly seem to know their stuff. Dave was head of after sales service for Merc in the West of Scotland but left (as apparently did a lot of others) when Stratstone took over all the dealerships in the area.

I'd recommend them and will definitely be using them again in the future ... :thumb:

Well, took my car in for its brake pads this afternoon, and was very impressed. In and out in just over an hour.
Front pads and sensor replaced for the princely sum of £114 inc. VAT (what would a main dealer charge for this?) Checked the back pads - they were ok, and let me know my rear tyres were getting close to the legal limit.

Can definately recommend them and will be using them again (but hopefully not too soon :p )

His Handy work - He told me he has to break the plastic to get the headlight to aim at the correct height , all nicely held together with a self tapping screw!:wallbash:

Hi was @ the said garage in Ibrox.

Seemed a professional and organised outfit. Had a wee chat with the owner and the fella is time served with MB as a senior manager of MB organising several large dealers. He is an avid MB fan, knows his stuff, reasonable on labour, transparent and open regarding prices and on todays experience would not hesitate to go back.

When there there were several nice cars (BMW 750i E65), 211 CDi, SLK (171).

Steven-thanks again for picking me up, dropping me off, the "wall" of sound and the scran. Much appreciated :thumb:

Took the CLK in to these guys today for a B service.

Tick, gold star for very slick professional outfit, and not too wallet unfriendly either.

Good, good, good.

:thumb:

Car has been serviced by the fellas at Ibrox, is running nicely and a new battery and all is good. Nice helpful friendly service.

Best garage i've been to, ever.
They actually care about your car and what they do.
If you have any problem big or small they will take you to the car, put it up on the ramp and physically show you what's up.
The mechanic I had knew his stuff and was extremely patient with my stupid questions, didn't make me feel like an idiot and explained things in a way a novice like me could understand.
The owner of the garage was really nice a friendly and took time out to speak to every customer that came in. He has a really good management and customer service ethic.
The car will be going there from now on, even if I do have to drive all the way up the M74, I don't care, the quality of work and service is probably better than Merc themselves and to be honest, I quite enjoy the M74 anyway!
One last thing - the price. Not much more than you would pay at your local garage and you get a trained Merc mechanic, not some 16 year old apprentice, even for a simple bulb change.

I phoned this place to price getting the ATF & filter changed... £110+ VAT

Mercedes of Giffnock..... £279!

I know where it will be going :thumb:

Excellent guys, popped in at 8:50 to book mrs car in for brake service and pads and they did it there and then in 45 mins!, good price and even a smile !

No hesitation recommending this garage

I'll be back! (ibrox)

I live in Greenock and have Merparts in Port Glasgow look after my car. They've been great and know the marque incredibly well. Because of them I will buy another Mercedes as it is a joy to have them work on my car.
