I need advice on the care plan. I just bought an approved used 14 reg c220 cdi and wanted to get the £35/month service care plan but I was told by the dealer that I would have to pay £52/month due to the fact that I bought the car in September which is 6 months after the annual start date of the plan! Can anyone please explain if that indeed is the case and why?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi there. Welcome to the forum :thumb:

I'm not exactly sure but I understood that they have a set price over a certain period (maybe the two year warranty period) that you can take this deal at the price when the car was new. After that, you pay the going rate.

I'm surprised it's so expensive though. My deal is £47/month for an SLK 55AMG which has a 5.5 V8 engine.

Depending on where you live, there are some trustworthy independent specialists who can provide excellent service and can be better value for money.

I'm sure someone on this site will come along later to give you a definitive answer.

The dealer is quoting you the price for 3 services in 2 years. You don't have to take that plan, and still go for a "normal" 3 services over 3 years, which will be £35 pm. That is, if you're not planning to do more than 15.5k miles a year.

You can check it yourself: http://servicecarerates.mercedes-benz.co.uk

Oh, and Service Care plan starts when you want it to start - that certainly has been my experience for over five years now.

As GLK says you can start it whenever, mine started in June 2015 at £32 per month

Was just about to say if you're lucky like GLK you get a courtesy car for free- then realised they forgot to charge me for the courtesy car last week when I had my service

The courtesy car is included in my service plan so I don't get charged extra.

:thumb::thumb: Thanks a million for taking the time and helping me out gents, I think the dealer was telling porky pies!

One point to note - the prices quoted are excluding VAT

No, it's actually inclusive of VAT (unless they gone up 20% in a year) - mine still shows as £30 pm and that's what I'm paying :thumb:

My DDs are plus VAT, on the site and the quote on the phone was 20% less

How does the care plan work? Pay monthly ..... and covers services for however long your agreed term is?

Everything is included in the service? Or is there any extra charges involved?

Depends what you pick, but for example 3 years under 15k per annum you pay £35 per month for 3 services.
Extras are on top, things like discs, pads, wipers and anything else they can get away with.
I think it's litterally just oil, filters, brake fluid and vehicle checks. Not even sure if AdBlue is covered by it, but the descriptions are so vague so it gives them wiggle room.

Everything service wise is included, with paint protection and roadside recovery

Wear and tear items aren't included, I.e brakes, pads, exchange, tyres etc

Yup, as Ashley said - all service items, as per Mercedes service schedule, are included, plus all the additional recommended items, again as per schedule - i.e. brake fluid; spark plugs; transmission oil and filter, etc, etc.

Plus a free MB Roadside Assistance, again, as Ash already mentioned :bannana:

All described thoroughly in T&C and there's no wiggle room LOL.

You can always check what's due next time at Mercedes ESS and print a work sheet, to confirm with them - I did for my last service, as it had five additional items, including ATF and sparks. Still only £30 a month :thumb:

£420 per year to service a C220 seems expensive to me. My C63 was only £45 per month.

So the only benefit really is to spread the cost of a Mercedes dealer service over the term. As oppose to paying a full whack each time. Do you get the usual Valet included?

How the roadside recovery work? Maybe useful if get a puncture on the run flats....

Also, Mercedes specialist garages do servicing at lower price....?

Main benefit is it works out cheaper!

Am I missing something; that's £540 per year?

(Or is the point that a C220 should be significantly cheaper than a C63?)

Yes that's what I was getting at, service prices are silly for the C63 so I always thought £45 was good value. I would have thought a C220 would be £300 per year max but I'm obviously miles out.

My C350 petrol is £27/month (£324/year).
