Mercedes clk 200 convertible
I have a Mercedes clk 200 year 2000
I have a problem with automatic box sticking in gear also when I activate kickdown it sticks in first gear.
I have had the oil and filter changed today but problem still there.
Any ideas what problem could be ?
Also if gearbox problem would it show up as a malfunction on dash ?

Could be a number of things. Really needs plugging into a star before you throw anymore money at it. Was it a merc specialist who did the box?

No it was my local mechanic.
I'm fairly new to Mercedes and really just wondered if there were a common problem with them. I take it all faults don't show up on dash as a malfunction ?

I to am having trans issues so feel your pain, from my own experience it dont put a light on in the dash when a fault occurs so if i was you id get the codes read, check for any leaks and get the trans level checked with oil hot ie good 20 mins run, there is a socket and plug on the side of the trans remove plug and check for oil if it has buy a new plug adapter they dont cost alot under £20 and can cure alot of faults, if the codes compe back as speed sensors or clutch slipping then a conductor plate may be at fault or valve body. But without codes your running blind.

Right guys, may be a bit of bad news as i had a similar problem with my merc clk240 w209, since mines was a 2002 model it was the upgraded model from the w208 and what happens is that the radiator seeps water and steam into the gearbox cooler and this in turn over time starts to make the gearbox slip. The gears start to rust and i had to get my box reconditioned. Aswel as
replace radiator, do not go for a second hand gearbox as a cheap fix as i had 3 in which did not work. Star diagnosis will be clearer in problem but with my case, it wasnt untill the gearbox was opened up untill we saw the problem. Mercedes had made a valeo radiator with crimps that were **** and so leaked water and glycol into gearbox. So you can also have a glycol test done with the old gearbox oil to confirm water in gearbox.
