Mercedes CLK200 Compressor (2004) Key Fob Not turning right to start Ignition

Hello All,

Got a new key made from a local locksmith which I am assuming he programmed to the immobiliser?
The key now turns and starts, but for some reason it doesn't start the engine.
Does anyone have any ideas? I got RAC to come over to also have a look the same day later in the afternoon and they advised the below error codes?

It appears from the first fault shown above that the car is not communicating with the electronic ignition switch.
That indicates to me that the key has not been programmed with Mercedes xentry software.
You cannot assume your locksmith programmed the key correctly. Did you not try it with him still by the car to see if it started?

Read Post #5 again and you will see I explained a new key needs to be programmed with the correct software.
Another reason I recommended RMK in Birmingham if you can't find someone closer to programme a new Mercedes key.

Alright thanks for your help I'll try and reach out to RMK in Birmingham and see what they say. I'm surprised the local locksmith didn't know this and just made a key that doesn't work...

But the key he made does unlock the car and all the buttons work...

As said, several times

The lock /unlock transmitter has NOTHING to do with the immobiliser.

Two separate functions contained in the key.

Then go back to them.

You paid for a service, they didn't deliver.

unfortunately i was at work and my brother was there. can i not manually program it using instructions online or does someone need to use Mercedes software

he is saying the key turns and is not a blank key , he said key is 100% programmed , alarm off, remote working, steering lock disengaged, key turns on the dash on and no error codes on dash.

How did he program the key? Did he come out to the car?

As we have said many times, the key needs to be programmed to the car and to the immobiliser code . If that is done correctly and it will not start then it points to a faulty ignition switch.

yeah he came out to the car , I am not sure how he programmed it. i am assuming he used the VIN of the V5C ? the key locks and unlocks the car and opens the boot. It just doesn't start the engine?

As we have said. Either the key is not programmed correctly or there is another fault, likely the ignition switch.

do you know anyone in London that can programme the key? i tried to reach out to that company in Birmingham but no one has responded?

I do not live in London so no!

As said, and for the very last time.

Get the car to a Mercedes specialist who can check it and correctly diagnose the issue.

I am not answering any more questions from you.

I, and others have given you the information you need on severel occasions and you are failing to follow it. I have been more than patient but now suspect, as I have for some time, that you are a troll.
