    Hi All,

Just a quick question for CLS owners.
Does the gearbox feel a little bit lumpy in lower gears? IE changing 3 to 2?
Just curious because mine doesn't feel quite as smooth as I'd like it to maybe.

Should be silky smooth, mine is anyway. When was the ATF last changed, merc intervals are every 40k odd...

hhmm, I dont know to be sure. I will have to check that when I pickup tomorrow. spoke to MB dealer and they were not so sure what could be wrong as asked me to bring the car in (I'm maybe buying it tomorrow so a little difficult to say). Have you ever had any issues with it? How many miles has your one done/Age/model?

    If at all possible please.

if you are buying from MB dealer, ask them to check on their system to see if ATF has been changed. If not, they can do it as part of the sale

Mine has done 73k and had the ATF changed 3 times ( one owner Full Mercedes Oxford History )

The reason it was changed again at 70k was a gearbox electrical unit which had failed which cost plus ATF £1,200.00 to replace. Takes the burden away from me.

I've serviced it twice at MB in the two years I've owned it, annual regardless of the miles I do it's not a daily ,the previous owner had spent a small fortune on it before selling to me he was very fussy!

Mine is a 2006 Petrol 350, older than what I was looking for but with the spec fully optioned, colour combo ,condition (garaged from new and still garaged) history and the original bill of sale showing what he paid it....really was a no brainer for me. I could of quite easily gone down the 500/amg route but I've done the performance thing. This car is very capable for what I use it for.

If you don't have full MB history, there are some very good indies out there I would go down that route if I hadn't the full MB history.

Goodluck hopefully it's something minor that the dealer you purchased from will rectify.

Ok good to know. Well I think the speed sensor has been changed on this one 320CDI with 90k on the clock. Will need to see when ATF was last changed on it.
This car is private sale but does have full MB service history. Will have to check I guess in what state the ATF was changed and how long ago.

Thanks for the info though, very useful indeed. How do you find it to drive on a daily basis?

I'd be cautious then if it's private the current owner could be trying to unload a big bill! I'd get them to agree to have it inspected any problems they knock the cost of the sale price or I'd look for another, lots out there.

Mine does about 1,500 miles per annum, it doesn't owe me anything so really just a lazy cruiser I take out when I feel the urge not often enough though! When I do it is very smooth gearbox wise no jerking or sloppy up/down shifts.

Ask if its been remaped as that makes the gears slightly lumpy.
