Mercedes CLS Whining Noise

Hi everyone!

I own a 2010 Mercedes CLS 219 350 CDI Grand Edition. I have noticed that for the last few weeks, most of the time, after around 30 minutes or so of driving, a whining noise can be heard from the front of the car and as the revs increase, the whining noise seems to get louder. I have not noticed any changes to how the car drives.

I am unsure of what this could be and what a potential repair would require? I would be most grateful for any insight. Many thanks in advance.

Could it be the radiator cooling fan? Can you hear it when stopped, engine running? Perhaps next time you hear it stop, leave the engine running and open the bonnet
