Mercedes Connect Me

Need some help please.

Got the emails from the dealer to register for the connect me services, did that but it's not showing any services as being available for my car.

I'm due to collect the car on Tuesday but I'm unsure if that's the reason why it's not showing any services.

The services won't burst into action until your phone manages to contact your car. Mine didn't do/say much until then anyway.
 
Well James did get back to me and it's all sorted out. Alas the other dealer just kept on using an incorrect e-mail address (even though I did specifically check with them on this point).

James also asked why I didn't take out the Mercedes servicing package. Well simply due to the fact the original dealer never mentioned it to me. On checking on this and other forums, it actually makes sense. Essentially on the E Class it's £30 per month, and although you may well get an A Service for this amount (ie. 12 x £30), other people have said that a B Service can cost north of £900, so I took that out as well.

I haven't exactly been over impressed with MB. However, I did say to James that when it comes to changing the E Class in 2 or 3 years, if he's still at MB, he'll be my first port of call. Sure I'll have to drive up to MB in Norwich (I have a house in Suffolk anyway so it's not a huge problem for me), but this guy does seem to have a sense of responsibility to the brand and for customer service, something which is on the whole sadly lacking in this day and age.

I have a facelift 2013 Eclass, got the app etc working but all it does us show me a photo of my model , but no options to do anything with the car, maybe because my wife is away out with car it's not connecting ???

I believe with a 2013 model you have to take it to an MB dealership as they have to hook it up. :crazy:
 
Only real feature I miss without internet is the ability to send a destination address from iPhone to car (car can't retrieve address as it can't connect to Internet)

So cannot input an address before getting in the car, then having to deal with a much slower UI to enter alphanumerics without the advantage of a touch qwerty pad of the phone.

You can do that with the Mercedes Me App just by adding a new POI... Well you can with mine anyway......
 
I cannot find the App in the App Store, and MB don't seem to publish the direct download link?

Dealer did it all for me..... It isn't easy to set up yourself for fairly obvious reasons!
 
I think the initial App download opportunity only o work occurs on system initialisation. The download failed for me because have a family account and a stored egift card as payment which appeared to confuse the download and subsequently failed.

However on mobile I use the web login for Mercedes Me, and that appears to offer similar functionality, but irritatingly on the trip data shows as KM, and fuel consumption as litres per 100km! I only understand MPG. Strangely via desktop web access it shows correctly as miles and MPG.

I had to get my dealer (Carlisle) to upgrade the software in the car before mine worked - it just said "Activating..." Or something.

Honestly, it's a pain. The BMW system is FAR better, they allow you Internet access to view websites or stream media from online services straight from the car without mucking about with phone hotspots.

The BMW system may be better, but I don't like their cars! I'll stick with my MB thanks. :D
 
Being a leaser, my C350e wasn't setup for mercedes me. Do I need to visit a dealer, or can they do it over the phone/remotely, forgive my ignorance!

Awkward one. I got the impression you had to own the vehicle in order for MB to set it up for you, but you don't legally own the vehicle so it may be a problem.

The dealer can do it remotely on MY15's....

Mine is a lease also, the car actually came from the Corporate section of MB (I believe - what's what my number plates say anyway) down in Hull.
However, MB are obliged to sort issues under warranty. What I did was call the helpdesk for the Online system (which I think I got online) who then advised me to go to the dealer, so I simply called Carlisle (which is my nearest) and booked it in. 2 cups of coffee later and they'd fixed it. They have to plug some gadgetry into the car in order to update the software, I wish I'd seen what they did as I love stuff like this :)

Make sure though that you speak to their person at the dealership who deals with the COMAND ONLINE system - they tend to have at least one person trained on it. Tell them you need the software updated because of this issue.

What does the bottom traffic icon do? It's displayed on mine all the time I think.
 
Good question. It either means 1) that it's in touch ok with whatever server gives it the information, or 2) that there are delays somewhere on the map. I just had a quick look in the manual (iPhone app version) but I can't see the icon.
What it does say in the manual however is "the respective traffic data being received appears at the bottom left of the display with the symbol 'TMC'. If there is no information no symbol is displayed". So that could be it, but I don't recall ever seeing the letters "TMC" on the display.

On Mine, the Traffic icon has nothing next to it, or a yellow or red car (though for quite a while I thought it was a little picture of a wine gum)

If Yellow cars appear along a road, it means it's busy and you may have delays, red ones mean it's very busy and you will definitely have delays!

That's my take on it anyway! :p

not atall awkward, its a fix they are obliged to do regardless, what a ridiculous statement.

I'm just saying what MB told me. Remember, Mercedes me allows you to track and unlock the vehicle. When the lease company takes it back, you could go back and unlock it!
